My name is Armando Montes, and I currently serve as an Assistant Principal at an Academy in the Rio Grande Valley. My professional goal is to become a leader who drives innovation in education by leveraging technology to enhance student learning and academic success. Through my doctoral studies in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Educational Technology, I aim to deepen my understanding of how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, can be integrated into instructional practices to improve academic performance, engagement, and integrity.
My research interests center on the intersection of AI and education with a specific focus on how AI tools like ChatGPT impact academic honesty, critical thinking, and student support systems in both high school and university settings. I am particularly interested in exploring the ethical challenges and transformative opportunities that AI presents in classrooms that permit its use compared to those that do not. I aspire to contribute to the development of responsible and effective AI implementation strategies that support equitable and meaningful learning experiences for all students.
