I am a PhD student studying at the University of Sheffield. My project focuses on the design of synthetic genetic elements to increase the production of recombinant protein in Chinese Hamster Ovary Cells (CHO).
My project utilised bioinformatics to find key regulatory elements in the genome and then deconstructed these elements to create tunable synthetic elements of my own design. The basis of this process has been RNA sequencing.
When starting my project, I found there to be a significant lack of resources or simple courses available to show you how to perform these experiments. After nearly two years of constant mistakes, I would love to help people who are in the same position as I was and hopefully make bioinformatics simple!
