This course will introduce you to the world of crowdsourcing data and visualizing it as a map. It is designed for non-experts to get up and running. You should take this course if you want to gather geographical volunteered information for a project. I will teach you the in's and out's of Crowdmap hosted by the Ushahidi platform. This open-source, free and user developed environment can be used for crisis-mapping, community development, and gathering data from the whole world or a local community.
Learn about the Dashboard environment to quickly assess your deployment. Also we begin discussing gathering data from email.
Learn the basics of how the crowd can sign-up for alerts and how to see those users.
I hold a PhD in Geography from The Ohio State University and have been working with computer-based maps since the mid-1990s.
