I designed this course for someone who has had limited time in illustrator® but wants to learn the program. This course is less about graphic design theory (although there is theory sprinkled throughout) and more about learning the basics of Adobe illustrator. This is the prefect starter course for someone interested in become a freelance graphic designer or a small business owner interested in doing their own graphic and promo materials.
What Can I Expect?
I designed this course for someone who has had limited time in illustrator®, but I do recommend acquiring the software before starting the course to familiarize yourself with the basic functions and buttons. There is a free trial of Adobe creative suite available on adobe. I also move at a quick pace, there is so much to pack into this course, so I designed the videos with playback in mind, and I expect and encourage you to re-watch videos. This is a starter course so not everything can be covered, but this course will give the the essentials to get started.

Creating Different File Formats (Digital and Print) and resizing
Let's Create a Flyer!
Designing in the vector format is incredibly powerful. It gives you the ability to scale things larger and smaller without loosing quality or have pixelation. You can essentially design everything using illustrator and export those designs to other programs as needed (InDesign, and Photoshop) and have no problem with image quality.
There are two main color settings in Illustrator. CMYK and RGB mode. This video will review both and when you should use each setting. CMYK is for anything print related, business cards, flyers, t-shirts. RGB is used for anything digital, mobile, web, social.
The most important tool you can use in illustrator is the pen tool. Learn how to create shapes, edit shapes and potentially create complex graphics.
Learn how to create shapes, align shapes, fill shapes with color and use layers!
Just as important as the pen tool is text! What is an ad without text? Learn how to align text (left, right, center align), change colors, change font types and sizes! We will also review how to create curved or rounded text.
Learn about different blending modes and gradients to add that extra something.
