Welcome to my Course about Alignment and Foundation.

There are many benefits of striving for perfection in your body to enhance your quality of life.

The Asana (physical poses) practice of yoga has 5 Major Alignment Principles:

  • Foundation (where your body touches the earth)
  • Activated Legs (internal rotation of inner thighs)
  • Lengthened spine (tailbone in and down or lower belly tucks in)
  • Arm strength (exterior rotation upper arms)
  • Muscle Energy (core strength)

Vienna is one of the world's most livable cities and it is known for its quality of life. The name comes from the name Vindobona meaning "white base/land." This bright base of land is the foundation of one of the most prosperous cities in the world and a model for city planning today.

Alignment is the study of relationship. How everything is connected to everything else. Similar to the way that the Viennese use their contacts and connections in business, music, art, dancing, and nature to enjoy a well-rounded life. When we are able to bring our body into alignment and harmony, the fragmentation disappears, integration is achieved, and unity is established.

In this course we will notice symbolism and details throughout this exciting city as we connect these to the details within our body.

We will explore these concepts more through:

  • a written discussion about the topic
  • a video explanation with key ideas to reflect on
  • a yoga sequence video that includes music, warm-up, key poses, cool down, and a final resting pose.

Thank you for your interest in my course and I look forward to hearing more about your path to Alignment by joining my yoga journey now.

  • Students should be aware of how to handle any pre-existing injuries. Yoga is not a competition. Listen to your body and do not continue in a pose if you feel tearing or sharp pain.
  • Please message me if you have any questions about how to deal with specific injuries.

Yoga and Art Instructor

Hannah’s curiosity and adventurous spirit urged her to travel the world, after completing a degree in Liberal Studies with an Art concentration. She became a flight attendant and traveled for 4 years to see places with interesting and different cultures, natural beauty, and art history.

Hannah first tried yoga at the end of her college studies, when her fingertips were 6-8 inches from touching the ground (in forward fold). She really dove in and found transformation through Yoga One San Diego. In 2012, Hannah met Laura McCorey, a teacher and blog writer from Yoga One, and began learning yoga in beautiful Balboa Park. Laura opened her perspective to the healing aspect that yoga can bring and she began to find inner balance and peace as she practiced 3-4 times a week at the studio for the following years to the present. With an athletic background of a runner and hiker, Hannah gradually began to increase in flexibility and whole body strength to start learning more intermediate and advanced poses.

During that time, she completed her California Teaching Credential in Art and began teaching drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media to K-8th grade students.

In fall of 2014, after completing the Rainbow Kids Yoga Training, she stumbled upon the opportunity to also teach yoga to her students at the charter school. Hannah emphasizes safety in getting into and out of poses, proper alignment, and the benefits of breathing with your movements (Vinyasa Flow). She incorporates partner poses like 'Bicycle" and "House" to teach trusting and interconnected relationships.

Hannah enjoys inspiring her students through a full body experience of a creative theme and intention towards wellbeing, movement with breath, muscle strength and flexibility, balance, connection with others, listening to verbal instructions and stories, playing world music, aromatherapy, and imaginary journeys. After completing her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training this March 2015, she is excited to offer private yoga lessons to all ages as well. Hannah aspires to share her light and enthusiasm to anyone who is open.
