This online Introductory Mat Course outlines the philosophy, principles and concepts as discussed in the Fundamental Matwork Course 101. The Fundamental Matwork training and exercises are described in the Workbook, which offers a basic understanding of the NWCC Pilates® Fundamental Transitional Exercise System. This system is a modern day version of the Pilates Method known as Bodiesology®.
Those students and teachers who have trained in the Pilates Method are aware of its founder, Joseph Pilates; however, this Introductory Mat Course describes his role in bringing together this world renown system of physical education, also known as “Contrology.” As well, this Introductory Mat Course describes the principles and concepts, which Pilates himself founded almost a hundred years ago.
We are privileged to teach this online Introductory Mat Course, as a way of honoring the teachings of Joseph Pilates, and at the same time, bringing forward a new way of thinking, in terms of the physical conditioning of the body. The mind and body approach to fitness has reached a turning point with the knowledge brought forward in modern science. We are offering an expanded view of this mind and body approach to encompass the understanding of the energetic body, which plays a role in the awareness and movement of the body.

This online Introductory Mat Course offers a preview into the teachings of the NWCC Pilates® Fundamental Matwork Course 101. This Introductory Course provides a basic understanding of the Pilates principles and concepts that in conjunction with the fundamental mat movements/exercises described in the NWCC Pilates® Workbook Foundation. We feel that it is important to connect to the material of this Introductory Course prior to delving deeper into the philosophy and science offered in the online NWCC Pilates® Fundamental Mat Course 101. As Pilates is a tool to achieve an expanded understanding of the mind and body, we have designed this Course as a means of reaching higher goals and visions. Therefore, this online Fundamental Mat Course (101) is very well-rounded, providing the necessary material to learn Pilates at the Fundamental level, as demonstrated in the NWCC Pilates® Method.
As we believe in continued education, this online Fundamental Mat Course (101) will further impart additional information to other online courses (including Course 102, 103 and 104). This will include information necessary for those individuals who currently teach Pilates as well as for those individuals who wish to obtain a Pilates Certification. We are planning on offering online assistance to those individuals who would like to teach Pilates on a professional level. Students who pass the online examination(s) and who are approved by the Director of Education, N.W.C. Ltd. for their hours of teacher training (in a professional setting) will receive a Certification for completing the online course(s). Moreover, the Advance Teachers’ Training Course (201) will require that students and teachers complete their full Certification at the Namaste Wellness Centre.

As N.W.C. Ltd. educator she truly believes in this modern approach to health and well - being as a way of life. This journey began twenty years ago, when she began working in the Health and Wellness Industry, collaborating with doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors and sports medicine professionals merging a modern exercise science with traditional methods of teaching.
Through her expertise as a physical therapist assistant and qualification as a Pilates Teacher, she was responsible for creating client programs and for improving the quality of care for patients with pre/post injury, (neuromuscular) degeneration, acute or chronic ailments and/or disorders. This included aquatics as a form of transitional therapy for muscle balance training and regeneration. She further created and adopted preventative programs for individuals, including Special Populations, as a means to transform the body to full functional mobility and health.
Ten years ago, while creating and developing educational health/fitness programs, she began contributing to the creation of the curricula and support material for the International NWC Caribbean Pilates® Training and Educational Programs. She is the author of several published manuals, including the “N.W.C. Pilates Teachers’ Training Manual(s), the NWC Caribbean Pilates® Fundamental Matwork, Volume I and the NWC Caribbean Pilates® Advanced Matwork, Volume II.”
These manuals are essential to guide her student teachers and trainers through the process of teaching and training others in this modern day version of the Pilates Method, namely Bodiesology®. Along with the Executive Director of Education, she has co-written, Pure Philosophy: The Essence of Pilates, which offers a complete theoretical understanding of the principles of NWC Caribbean Pilates®. As an educator, she exemplifies the true mind/body existence as the Programs Director for N.W.C. Ltd.
