Welcome to The Training Cycle- How to Build Iterative Learning Programs that Scale. My name is Sammi Willden and I am an experienced program designer with over 10 years of experience in the field. I've built both internal and external learning programs and have documented my learnings along the way.

Today, I am giving you access to a proven method to avoid developing ineffective programs- The Training Cycle. Over this 8 part series we will walk through the 5 steps of the Training Cycle and discuss how you can apply them to the programs you develop.

    Let's Dive In!

  • Why Most Programs Fail3:09

There are 3 main reasons that program fail:

    Not putting the learners first

It can be easy to get so into the program development flow that we forget to bring the learners to the center of the program. This comes up in a variety of ways.

    1. Building programs on what you think they want/need

    2. Completing little to no learner research done ahead of time

    3. Utilizing Ineffective teaching methods or creating boring training experiences

    They are static

We are really great at designing and developing learning programs, but all too often we stop there. We don't go back and ensure our content is effective and update.

    They are not data driven

We may collect learner satisfaction data, which is great but we don't go any deeper than that to truly measure how the learners are doing and if our objectives are being met.

    What does this lead to?

    1. Learners that are checked out- poor attendance- little growth

    2. Inability to prove the impact/ROI of your programs

Good news it doesn’t have to be this way! We can utilize the Training Cycle to develop strong and engaging programs.

  • The 5 Steps of the Training Cycle2:06

    Intro the training cycle

Let's talk about how to avoid the common program design pitfalls we just discussed. First we will talk about what the Training Cycle is and then we will discuss how the cycle continues overtime.

Why do we utilize a cycle?

A cyclic approach allows us to be: Learner focused, Data driven, and Iterative

The 5 Steps to the Training Cycle Are:

    1. Assess your program's needs

    2. Design a program that meets the need

    3. Develop your program content and assessments

    4. Implement your program for your learners

    5. Evaluate your program's performance

  • The 5 Steps of the Training Cycle

Requirements

  • No learning and development experience needed. This course will give you the basics to build into moving forward.
