Snowdrop Flower in classical Chinese Painting

In this, the first part of this class you will learn much about main types of brushes, paints and paper that we are going to use in all our Chinese painting courses.

The materials you will need

-Brush for xe-i and elastic one or a universal small brush.
-Wolf hair brush for contour No. 2 or brush for landscape No. 1
-Chinese ink for painting and calligraphy
-Felt mat
-Set of mineral paints MARIES palette of 12 colors
-Paper for xe-i.

Aquainted with the materials  you have known now how to chose brushes, ink and paper. Watch this  video with the examples of different basic and essential kinds of lines and strokes we use achieve better result on your picture.

• Let's master the basic techniques of the image: stretch marks, dry / wet brush, dark to light tricks

Try to study the  form of the smallest buds and half opened flowers.

Next cope with halftone solution and construction of snowdrop flower
After this lesson you will begin confidently paint snowdrop flowers in different positions. Using black ink only.

You have to  keep the brush always vertically to draw the delicate graphics on the flowers' petals,  as if you use a pencil

Here we'll practice in painting the flower in color.
Press the brush from the tip to the base. Start lightly then increase pressure through your strokes.
Prepare your skills to draw the whole plant with flowers, leaves and even with snow if you'd like.

Here you will complete drawing the flower and go with the whole plant with  small leaves and  the stem, may be with snow on the base of it.

Pay attention when adding layers, and give your edges nice wavy shapes.

Different positions of the flower, half and full opened: you could paint any snowdrop you'd like.
Also you will know about inappropriate intersections of the lines in Chinese painting.
Draw it in the final composition. When dry - your picture of Snowdrop is ready!
