The study has been prepared to highlight a gap in the political science literature. In the current period, alongside Western-style liberal democracies, hybrid regimes shaped by political crises and turmoil have begun to make their mark on the international stage. The need for the Doctrine of Political Shock in examining such regimes is increasing day by day. In the training we have prepared, in addition to existing theories, it has been emphasized that political events can be analyzed through the Doctrine of Political Shock. Upon completion of this training, it is aimed that participants will acquire a fundamental level of knowledge and interpretation regarding the Doctrine of Political Shock.
As a hybrid concept, the core components of the Doctrine of Political Shock have been examined in detail. Within this framework, we have prepared five lessons for you. In the first lesson, we covered one of the two most important components of the Political Shock Doctrine: The Punctuated Equilibrium Model. In this context, a comparative analysis of periods of stability and rapid change in political systems was conducted.
In the second lesson, we aimed to establish the necessary theoretical foundation for understanding the Doctrine of Political Shock by thoroughly analyzing the concept of the "Window of Opportunity," which constitutes the second fundamental component of our doctrine. This lesson focused on how certain conditions create a window of opportunity for political actors within the policy, problem, and solution triangle.
In the third lesson, we defined the Doctrine of Political Shock and presented its conceptual framework. Emphasis was placed on the temporary effects of political shocks to enable a healthier analysis of political processes.
In the fourth lesson, we classified events that qualify as Political Shocks, highlighting the distinction between local and global Political Shocks.
In the final lesson, we shared the existing literature on Political Shock Doctrine with you, aiming to enhance your ability to interpret and analyze the literature. References were made to the thinkers of this doctrine to ensure a deeper understanding of its philosophical dimension. A bridge was established between the Doctrine of Political Shock and contemporary issues to improve interpretative skills.
At the end of each lesson, academic readings related to the relevant theories were also provided. These readings are expected to reinforce the content of the lessons.
