In this course you will participate in many Practice Activities and apply what you are learning, as you will have the opportunity to play 56 songs along with the teacher. For you to enjoy the course to the fullest, answer the 16 quizzes, do the 21 tests and take part in the 14 practice activities.
Luciano Alves is the founder of and teacher in CTMLA Music School, based in Rio de Janeiro since 2003 and began to teach at the age of thirteen. All the experience acquired throughout his career is shared through videos, scores with note names, fingerings, digitalized screen theory classes and sheet music in PDF etc.

The didactics have been developed in a way that you learn how to play effectively and enjoyably. Lessons are introduced step by step: first you will learn about musical notes, finger numbers, correct posture and how to practice. Soon you will start playing, first with your right hand then with your left hand and finally with both hands together.
Several theory, technique and sight reading lessons were added in parallel to the learning of the songs. Besides, many Tests, Quizzes and Practice Activities have been included.
The regions of the piano are gradually explored, always using songs as a base. Gradually, you will play all the keys including the black ones. At this point, more complex pieces and lessons on chords and chord symbols are introduced. Then, come the classes about hand crossing, arpeggios and split chords. Luciano Alves – teacher, pianist, keyboardist, composer and author of music methods. He has seven CDs released worldwide and five publications of music methods. More than 70 tracks from his CDs are available on iTunes, Amazon, Raphsody etc.
Luciano is one of the founding partners of the CTMLA Music School – Center of Technology in Music – Luciano Alves (Rio de Janeiro) which, since 2003, offers courses for instruments, singing, music initiation, music production and home studio recording. At CTMLA, he teaches piano (classical and popular), theory, harmony and jazz improvisation, having already taught classes with a few hundred students, many of whom have been attending his classes for more than 10 years. In addition, he has been teaching on Skype to many students from countries around the world since 2012.

Methodology
The Online Course teaching methodology was created for both students who want to play only for fun and for those who crave a successful professional musical career. Every experience gained over many years as a musician and teacher is shared here through step by step lessons. Thus, students absorb solid musical and technical foundations so that they can play with confidence and enjoy. After all, playing at home or for a large audience should always be a pleasurable experience.
Brief biography
Luciano started classical piano studies at the age of seven. At the age of 14, he graduated in music theory from UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) and began his career as a pianist and musical director in many theatrical plays, while simultaneously teaching his first piano lessons and forming his first band. Subsequently, he attended classical piano classes at the CBM (Brazilian Conservatory of Music) and musical perception in the Preparatory Course of OSB (Brazilian Symphony Orchestra).
In 1976, he joined the band Os Mutantes, with which he toured Brazil and Italy, recording the LP “Mutantes Live”. With the group, he lived in Milan during the year 1977, where he produced his first arrangements and participated in recordings with many Italian artists. Back to Brazil, he started his career as musical director and pianist for many Brazilian singers, performing in Brazil and abroad, additionally, creating arrangements and conducting orchestras for recording companies such as Warner, CBS, Polygram etc. As a recording studio musician, he participated in more than 60 albums with renowned Brazilian artists.
Since 1985 he has been performing solo or with his band in Brazil and in many other countries. In the area of classical music, he performed as soloist in concerts of the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra of the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro, under the regency of Maestro Isaac Karabtchevsky.
In 1991 he toured Denmark, promoting his CDs and Brazilian instrumental music. On that occasion, he was invited to teach Brazilian music at several Danish universities.
As of 2010, Luciano went on to perform in duo with singer Bettina Graziani, playing jazz and Brazilian standards with his own arrangements.
In 2013 the CD “Luciano Alves plays Chopin” was released, in which he plays 12 of Chopin’s pieces. This CD was recorded in New York, with a Steinway D Centennial grand piano. In 2015, he recorded and filmed in New York, 12 videos with new performances for the CD “Luciano Alves plays Ernesto Nazareth”.

Metodologia
A metodologia de ensino foi idealizada tanto para os estudantes que querem tocar apenas por diversão quanto para aqueles que almejam uma carreira de músico profissional bem sucedido.
Toda experiência adquirida ao longo de muitos anos atuando como músico e professor é aqui compartilhada, através de lições gradativas. Assim, os alunos absorvem sólidos fundamentos musicais e técnicos de forma que possam tocar com muita confiança e descontração. Afinal, tocar em casa ou para um grande público tem que ser sempre muito prazeroso.
Biografia resumida
Luciano iniciou estudos de piano clássico aos sete anos de idade. Aos 14 formou-se em teoria musical pela UFRJ e passou a atuar como pianista e diretor musical em peças teatrais enquanto que, simultaneamente, ministrava suas primeiras aulas de piano e formava seus primeiros conjuntos. Posteriormente, cursou piano erudito no CBM (Conservatório Brasileiro de Música) e percepção musical no Curso Preparatório da OSB (Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira).
Em 1976, ingressou no conjunto Os Mutantes, com o qual excursionou pelo Brasil e Itália, gravando o LP Mutantes ao Vivo. Com o grupo, morou em Milão durante o ano de 1977, onde produziu seus primeiros arranjos e participou de gravações com artistas italianos. De volta ao Brasil, passou a fazer direção musical e a tocar em shows com vários artistas da MPB no Brasil e no exterior, além de criar arranjos e reger orquestras para as gravadoras Warner, CBS, Polygram etc. Como músico de estúdio, gravou mais de 60 discos com renomados artistas da MPB.
Desde 1985 vem se apresentando individualmente ou com sua banda no Brasil e no exterior. Na área da música clássica, apresentou-se em concertos como solista da Orquestra Sinfônica Brasileira e Orquestra do Teatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, sob regência do maestro Isaac Karabtchevsky.
Em 1991 realizou tournée na Dinamarca, divulgando seus discos e a música instrumental brasileira. Nesta ocasião, foi convidado para ministrar cursos sobre música brasileira e informática em diversas universidades dinamarquesas.
A partir de 2010, Luciano passou a apresentar-se em duo com a cantora Bettina Graziani, interpretando standards da MPB, jazz e blues com arranjos inéditos.
Em 2013 foi lançado o CD Luciano Alves plays Chopin no qual interpreta 12 peças. Este CD foi gravado em Nova York, utilizando um piano Steinway D Centennial. No ano seguinte, gravou e filmou em Nova York, 12 vídeos com novas performances do CD Luciano Alves interpreta Ernesto Nazareth.
