Description
Where you are looking to work as a counsellor, strengthen personal and professional relationships, or add a valuable skill to your CV, counselling skills are essential for forming meaningful bonds with other people.
This course will teach you the fundamentals of counselling. We will use the person-centred (also known as client-centred) approach developed by Carl Rogers to empower others to find solutions to their problems and help them move forward.
The person-centered approach places the client's experiences at the heart of counselling. By helping people to develop greater self-awareness and self-acceptance, they are able to feel positive about themselves and find ways to grow and develop as a person.
This course is suitable for those who are new to counselling, or those with existing counselling skills that are looking to understand the person-centred approach. We will cover:
What counselling is and how it works
What skills do counsellors need?
How to use the person-centred approach
Self-concept, self-esteem and human psychology
What the core conditions are and how to use them
Counselling skills including listening, reflecting, summarising and questioning
Working as a counsellor
You will learn through a variety of ways including video lessons, reading, reflection exercises and multiple-choice quizzes.
On completing the course, you will earn an accredited certificate in person-centred counselling skills. The course is accredited by the International Association of Therapists.
