Description

I designed this course when I was working as a music theory professor. This course helped my students to ensure they had a quick and easy set of tools to develop their ear. Over time, I refined the exercises to create this streamlined course.

This course trains your ear in a manner similar to the classic Hanon keyboard exercises. You’ll practice singing or audiating daily routines along with an audio recording, and eventually, you’ll read the music and hear the notes internally. Once mastered, you can work on one routine a day to keep your ear strong, even when you can’t be near a keyboard or instrument.

There are seven daily routines that can be practiced for months to establish mastery and develop a strong sense of pitch. Through structured, Hanon-inspired daily routines, you’ll develop and maintain your ear for chords, intervals, and scales. This comprehensive approach ensures that you build a solid foundation in ear training, enhancing your overall musicianship.

Key Features:

  • Major and Minor Scales: Learn and practice all major and minor scales.

  • Four Main Triads: Master the four main triads.

  • Classical-Style Seventh Chords: Understand and practice classical-style seventh chords.

  • Simple Intervals: Identify and sing all simple intervals.

  • Progressive Learning: Follow a simple and progressive manner to build your skills.

This course is designed to provide a comprehensive ear training experience, making it suitable for both beginners and advanced musicians. Beginners will find the structured approach helpful in building a strong foundation, while advanced musicians can use the daily routines to maintain and refine their skills. The Hanon-inspired method ensures that students engage in consistent, daily practice, which is crucial for developing a strong sense of pitch and musicality.

By incorporating these daily routines into your practice, you’ll not only improve your ear training skills but also enhance your overall musicianship. The course covers all major and minor scales, the four main triads, classical-style seventh chords, and all simple intervals in a simple and progressive manner. This ensures that you build a solid understanding of fundamental musical concepts while developing your ear.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to strengthen your basics or an advanced musician seeking to maintain your skills, this course provides the essential tools for daily practice and continuous improvement. With consistent practice, you’ll quickly internalize these fundamental concepts, making you a more confident and capable musician.

Who this course is for:

  • Who This Course Is For ?This course is perfect for musicians who want to enhance their ear training skills through structured, daily practice. Inspired by the renowned Hanon exercises, it is designed for those who can read basic notes in both the treble and bass clefs and are looking to supplement their existing music studies with a comprehensive ear training regimen.
  • Hanon and the Benefits of Daily Drills? Charles-Louis Hanon was a French piano pedagogue and composer, best known for his work “The Virtuoso Pianist in 60 Exercises.” Published in 1873, these exercises are still widely used today to develop speed, precision, agility, and strength in pianists’ fingers. Hanon’s method emphasizes the importance of daily practice to build technical proficiency and endurance. Similarly, this ear training course adopts a Hanon-inspired approach, offering daily drills that cover intervals, chords, scales, and warm-ups. These structured exercises help students quickly internalize fundamental concepts, improve their musical ear, and build a solid foundation for more advanced musical tasks. By incorporating daily practice, students can achieve consistent progress and become more confident and capable musicians.
