A sample from class.
A brief description of class #1.
In this 20-minute class, we will explore some techniques to mobilize the joints and activate energy in the extremities. We will play with fluid weight-shifts, balance and sequencing movement through the spine and limbs and visit some simple imagery to clear negative thought forms...all in the context of smooth movement vocabulary that helps to build strength, flexibility, agility, awareness and overall good health.
Welcome to Class 2!
In this 20-minute class we will wake-up awareness and circulation in the skin and superficial fascia and learn a simple meridian-clearing exercise. We will open up range-of-motion in the ankle and knee joints, lengthen and strengthen the side-lines of the body, practice mobilizing and sinking into the hip joints and initiating movement with the hips and pelvis. We will explore sequencing movement through the spine through flexion and extension and so much else!...All while floating and grooving to Michael Wall's atmospheric compositions.
Welcome to Class 3!
In this 20-minute class we will delve into more subtle sensation and movement as we mobilize the torso around a stable base and practice the difficult art of releasing tension from the arms and hands. We will practice moving from a connection to our root through the entire length of the body and work with subtle and sensuous hip work that feels delicious and can help release small, deeply-invested muscles in the pelvis.
This course jumps right in with three cohesive, 20-minute, standing movement sessions. These practices are a non-traditional approach to vocabulary based in Qi Gong and peppered with elements from Tai Chi and Tribal Fusion dance. They can be done in a small space, even wearing work-clothes.
Accompanied by a unique sound-score by Music-for-Movement composer Michael Wall, and filmed in the scrappy tropics of Providence, Rhode Island, the idea here is that the body is profound and movement practice is meant to be something interesting, delicious and part of an inspired life.
