
Madelaine will welcome students, introduce herself and explain why it is important to learn how to manage your mind - by building a toolkit of simple strategies for work, play, love, and life.
Students will see stress statistics and being to learn how Managing Your MIND exercises can increase satisfaction and alleviate stress. First exercise of the course is introduced.
Session uses thought exercise to illustrate and discuss how the mInd works. Moves on to activity on how the mind creates the stories in which we live, stories that can be modified for better work, play, love, life. Introduce Choosing ‘Reality’ activity.
Define the working surface, where the attention goes. Introduce Focus and Release activity.
Learn how to power breathe to put the higher brain in charge of your life. Introduce Power Breath activity.
Discuss purpose and practice of The Breathing Room exercise. Fuller blown power breath, suggested as regular practice to work and strengthen the brain. Gym for the mind.
Discuss purpose and practice of The Movie Room exercise. All the world's a story. Good to know so you can upgrade your own.
Discuss purpose and practice of The Judgment Room exercise. Humans are judgy. We discriminate. How we know what we can eat versus what can eat us. But sometimes it is only a rope, not really a snake. Or only your boss, not really a hungry bear. Here is where we talk about how we can train the mind to respond more smart than silly more of the time.
Madelaine will summarize the learnings from the course and address the following participant questions: "What do I do now that I have these skills?" "What are my next steps?" "What other resources can I seek out?" Course concludes with review and practice of opening exercise.
