For any building to be strong, it needs strong foundations. The Chromatic Scale is the foundation of music theory and practice. In this lecture you will learn what the Chromatic Scale is and how to play it on your guitar.
Learn the C Major Scale and how to play it on your guitar.
In this lecture you will learn all the major scales. Their notes, their structure, and how to play them.
It's easy!
In this video you will learn how to harmonize the C Major Scale. Harmonizing a scale is the process of deriving the chords from that particular scale.
It is a concept that many beginners do not know, essential for knowing in what key signature you are given any chord progression, but also very useful for song writing!
Now you will learn how to harmonize all the other major scales.
Again, it's very easy!
This lecture builds on the previous lectures where we harmonized the major scales with 3-note chords or triads. We will use the same approach adding a 4th note. These new chords that we derive are called 4-note chords, or 7th chords.
This type of chords come up very frequently so this is a very important step for you to have a solid theory background.
In this course, we learn these things not just for the sake of learning music theory. This is all information that you will need to understand if you want to improvise and that we will apply during this course.
Here's how we derive the 4-note chords of all the other major scales.
A very important lesson that will teach you how to know in which key signature you are given any chord progression.
Let's start talking about minor scales.
In this lesson you will learn the A Minor Scale and how to play it on your guitar.
In this lecture you will learn all the other minor scales. Their notes, their structure, and how to play them.
In this lecture you will learn how to harmonize all the minor scales, in 3-note chords (triads) and 4-note chords (7th chords).
Given a chord progression, how to tell if you are in the major or minor key.
Congratulations, you made it to the end of the first section...thank you!
I hope you are having fun and you are learning a lot. Now you are ready to move on to section two, where the real action begins!
You are about to learn a quick and easy system to play any major or minor scale in any key signature, just by learning 4 simple shapes on your guitar.
Welcome to Section 2!
This section is your second step into learning how to improvise in every key signature. You will learn what scale to use on what chords.
I will show you how to play all the major and minor scales in all key signatures just by learning 4 shapes on your guitar neck.
On this module you will also find links to backing tracks in ALL keys, so that you can practice everything that I will teach you as much you want :)
The first of our 4 shapes.
The second of our 4 shapes.
The third of our 4 shapes.
The fourth of our 4 shapes.
In this lecture you will learn how to move the 4 shapes to all the other key signatures.
Well done, you made it to the end of section 2!
I hope you are learning a lot from this course and you are having a great time, I am looking forward to introducing you to the next section: Improvising!
Well done for reaching section 3, where the real action begins!
In this section you will learn how to improvise and create beautiful, meaningful solos.
In this lecture you will learn and practice the first step to start to improvising.
It is called "randomizing" the scale: Once you found the shape that you need to use on a chord sequence, you start playing its notes in a random order.
This is to get you used to not using the scale as a scale anymore, but as a collection of notes that you are free to use as you like to improvise and express yourself.
You will surprise yourself with how many cool lines you can already come up with just using this simple trick!
Now, after you have practiced "randomizing" the scale, in this lecture you will learn how to play separate phrases in your solos.
This is a very important aspect of improvisation.
After all, music is not only made by notes but also by the space in between them.
This short lesson is to talk about a very important aspect of approaching improvisation: Play slowly!
Most students make the same mistake of wanting to play fast, because they think fast = good. This is, in my opinion, a big illusion.
If you play slowly, it's a lot easier to communicate something special, even if your technique is not very good yet.
In this lecture you will learn how to create a main, recurring theme in your solos.
If you improvise without focusing on a main idea, you will end up playing everything and nothing.
It's like a writer who writes his first book using all his ideas at once and then has got no more material to write another book.
So your solos need a recurring "theme" or "phrase" that will keep your audience attentive and interested.
At this point, after you learned how to create the main theme for your improvisation, you might have realized that if you keep playing the same phrase over and over, there is also the risk that your solos can become a bit boring and repetitive.
In this lecture you will learn how to come up with small "variations" of that theme, so that you can keep featuring it in your solo without boring your audience.
In this lecture you will learn how to take what you have learned so far and move it to all the other key signatures.
In this video you will learn how to use the rules of storytelling in order to create beautiful, meaningful solos on the spot.
Congratulations, you are an improviser!
In this bonus lecture you will learn how to deal with mistakes during improvisation, which is especially helpful in live situations.
In this lecture you will learn how to improvise on chord progressions featuring one or more chords that don't belong to the same key.
In this lecture you will learn the basics of Blues improvisation.
WITH JUST ONE LESSON A DAY!
Do you want to learn how to improvise on guitar?
But don’t really know where to start?
You’ve gotten over the first few steps and have picked up the guitar
Maybe you’ve even gotten pretty good at your playing
But you just can’t figure out how to simply ‘play’
Perhaps you have never tried to improvise before...
“Why do I always play a fixed melody instead of creating my own?”
“How do I make my improvisation sound good?”
Perhaps some of you might have even gotten really good with your scales
You can probably play better than your friends on the guitar
Maybe you can play at blazing fast speeds
But your solos, or your improvisation, it all sounds stale
It doesn’t sound like music, but just a sequence of notes being played
If you can see yourself facing these problems….
Then you might be asking yourself.. Why?
Why can’t I solo as well as I want to?
What am I doing wrong?
Why am I stuck with the same old Pentatonic scale and can’t do anything else?

Is there some sort of method, or a strategy, that you could follow?
That would teach you how to improvise?
Is it possible to learn from someone who has collected and organized all the information you need
Saving you COUNTLESS HOURS of searching it all by yourself?
The answer to that is a resounding YES!

My name is Filippo Dall'Asta and I am a professional guitar player based in London, where I have been gigging and teaching guitar for the past 10 years.
I have been playing guitar for 20 years now and I have studied music in Italy, Germany, India and England.
In my music career I did a lot of research on improvisation and I found a lot of good courses and information on the internet
But I could never find any courses that have a proper system to guide beginners to understand the theory behind it, learn what scales to use and start improvising all in one.
All I could find was scattered information here and there, either very very basic or very advanced.
So I thought I needed to put a course together that would cover all those aspects
So that any beginner could start improvising in no time and enjoy the freedom of expression that comes with it
Without having to waste countless hours collecting fragmented information here and there on the internet.
I know that there are thousands of videos and courses on improvisation but on this course you will get all the information that you would normally find separately on several courses
All boiled down into one!
This course is very interactive and fun, you are going to learn and play a lot as well.
You will realize that improvising is very easy once you learn a couple of key elements and it doesn't take much time at all to get started.

But Don’t Take My Word For It. Here is what people had to say about this course:

"I enjoyed the course and Filippo's teaching style. There is clear and logical explanation of the required music theory, followed by techniques for creative improvisation. This course fulfils the objectives stated in the course content, and I am enjoying practising the techniques learned. Highly recommended if this is of interest." - Jon Cartoon
"Genuine? Helpful? Actually gives me a real place to start practicing?! So much yes." - Kyle Loyd
"Fantastic course. So well done, Filippo. Great instruction. Very clear. Some "lights" really went on for me as a result of this course. I feel more confident with my leads and now have better command of the fretboard. To any potential students: if you are on the fence about taking this course, give it a shot. You'll be happy you did." - Mark Allen
"Not being a complete beginner I still found this course very useful as it resolved some questions I had about music theory and improvisation. Also, Filippo strikes me as a very music passionate person and I would love seeing some other courses. P.S. Backing tracks are a huge bonus" - Ognjen Mišić
"This is by far the best online Guitar class I’ve ever taken. Well worth the investment. I have always been a good rhythm guitarist but was stuck in the pentatonic rut and didn’t understand chord theory and scales until now. I hope you create more courses! I’m telling all my friends who play guitar to buy this course! Thank you!" - Bob Bean
