    You are now on board the SkyTrain which is taking you to SkyHotel, the place where your first German lesson is soon going to begin. You will be greeted by your teacher Sonja who will give you a brief introduction about the course.

    This is your first lesson, in which you will learn many basic German greetings as well as how to say yes and no. 

  • Lesson 02 - Alphabet15:19

    In this lesson we will go through the basic alphabet, going into detail on the particular pronunciation of single letters, comparing it with and distinguishing it from the English language. Learning the correct pronunciation of letters, sounds and words is a vital step in early language learning and will help you a lot throughout your linguistic journey.

    And here is another important lesson about the German alphabet. This time you will be taught all the common letter combinations in the German language to get you to confidently pronounce any German word, even the famously long ones or words you have never seen or heard before.

    You will learn personal pronouns as well as the verbs "have" and "be". This enables you to build your first simple sentences.

    You will learn all the important German question words, the so called W-Wörter. You will be able to ask simple questions that are very useful for first time meetings with strangers whom you want to know more about.

    Now you will learn a few regular verbs and how they are conjugated.

    You will be introduced to the concept of inversion (the mandatory change of word order). Word order is where most German learners make mistakes even after years and years of studying. Make sure to grasp and absorb the concept of inversion and train yourself to get it right from the very beginning. It is important to detach from the word order of your native language when constructing German sentences.

    In this lesson you will learn about the dreaded Der Die Das, i.e the three German genders and their articles.

    In this lesson you will be taught six different modal verbs. You will be talked through the conjugation and you will be given many useful example sentences.



  • Lesson 14 - Asking for Help5:34

    This is a type of vocabulary lesson in which you will learn many useful sentences when it comes to asking for help or information when traveling in a German speaking country. 

  • Lesson 15 - Eating and Drinking12:19

    Another vocabulary lesson which gives you some useful tools when the topic of food and drinks comes up. You will know the words for many meals and ingredients and how to order them when eating out.

    This lesson is all about the Akkusativ case, which is the fourth out of our four cases in German declension. We are starting out with this one as it is the one that conceptually is easiest to grasp as you will find accusative like phenomena in English as well.

Requirements

  • This course is taught through the medium of English. You need a fairly good English proficiency in order to truly benefit from the course. If you are a beginner in English, you will inevitably struggle to keep up with the teaching.
  • You need a computer or mobile phone with functioning video and audio as well as a stable internet connection.
