Updated April 2017 – In this lecture you will begin learning about the 5S system.  Lean Strategies International LLC will explain:

1. What 5S is.
2. Why the 5S system is so powerful.
3. Overview of the 5S system.

 In this section students will learn some important concepts for selecting an area for your 5S initiative.  They will also learn about Charters and collecting a baseline audit.

 Lean Strategies International LLC will outline the sorting phase of the 5S system.  Discussions on this phase will include what to sort, what to do if you can't decide and what items should be kept.  We will also discuss concepts such as the 5S auction and red tagging items.  

  In this lecture students will walk through the creation of a red tag and learn what types of items get red tagged.  Lean Strategies International LLC will also discuss where these items go once they are tagged and how the 5S system master can help to keep track of red tagged items.

 The 5S auction is a critical part of the red tagging process.  Lean Strategies International LLC will introduce the 5S auction and some of the details involved with conducting.  NOTE - Auctions are a unique format for every company, due to different cultures and various established behaviors.  The following provides a general outline for how to conduct an auction.  

  Lean Strategies International LLC addresses the set in order phase of the 5S system.  We will also discus concepts like "priority of use" and key tools such as shadow boards.

Lean Strategies International LLC will discuss why shining is such an important stage of 5S.  We will also look at the 5S system master for some important questions to ask before starting the Shine phase.
