So you've decided to join the wonderful world of internet marketing! You know you need a website, a Facebook page, some email marketing. That's all great! But what are you supposed to do with all that? How do you even begin to think about creating it? Hire someone? Sure! But that can get expensive and they keep throwing around fancy terms like widgets and plugins (oh my!).
Stop. Breathe. It's not difficult to learn. Yes there is some terminology (we'll get to that soon), but if you break it down step by step it can be very simple. Right now, I just want to introduce you to internet marketing. You may have some background of what it can do for you, but just in case here is a little overview for you:

So let's jump right on into it shall we?
First step to creating your website is to think of a name. What do you want to be known as on the internet? Let's say I am a chef and want to sell a cook book and cooking class someday. But I don't know how. So to start out, I want to create my website and offer some free recipes to get people to start believing in me. Also, it's a good way for me to start getting my recipes written down for my big book! So I have the what (selling a book and cooking classes) and I have the why (I want to become famous-ish) and a little bit of the how (I am going to start blogging recipes to build a following online).

Have You Added ALT Tags to Your Images? Did You Choose a Category for Your Blog Post? Did You Notify Your List Subscribers? Did You Add a Keyword or Two to Your Title? My goodness! So much to do! And if your post isn't written properly with SEO in mind, it may have all been for nothing. Here is a simple way to break down your blog posts:

If you have an email account, which you needed when to download this books so I am assuming you do, you have gotten email offers. I won't even make an assumption here. I know you have. Some of them annoy you, but others you like and read and get great deals from. So what's the difference between the two?

Twitter is by far the easiest of all the social media platforms to get set up and be using. While the wonderful world of twitter is limited to 140 characters at a time it is also filled with hashtags and at mentions throughout. Plus it's not quite as daunting as the other social media channels. Write a statement, add a hashtag and a link and you're good to go.
I've also found that people on twitter are much more willing to interact with you then on other social media platforms. This makes an easy platform for you to get started with on social media. While Facebook can take a good amount of time to build a following, twitter lets you build a following quickly and easily.

While there are lots of other social media channels out there, here we will focus on Google+, Pinterest, YouTube, and LinkedIn. That's not to say you shouldn't use the others. But I would suggest you start with these and then take it from there. This way by the time you get the them you will be a Social Media Guru and understand that most of the social media platforms all work pretty much the same way with slight differences and names.

It is out of question that quality backlinks are crucial to SEO success. More, the question is how to get them. While with on-page content optimization it seems easier because everything is up to you to do and decide, with backlinks it looks like you have to rely on others to work for your success. Well, this is partially true because while backlinks are links that start on another site and point to yours, you can discuss with the Web master of the other site details like the anchor text, for example. Yes, it is not the same as administering your own sites – i.e. you do not have total control over backlinks – but still there are many aspects that can be negotiated.
