We all have an internal sense of trust across our relationships. We call this your "Trust Gauge," and learning how it works to guide us and allows us to take steps to repair trust when it starts to erode is an important framework before diving into understanding nonverbal messages.
The challenge with soft science social research lies in the applicability of insights. Some studies provide us with findings which we can put to immediate use in how we interact, read, and interpret the actions of others. Other studies provide interesting insights which are important for our awareness, but which are things we have much less control over in day-to-day interactions. Both are important in enhancing our understanding of the impact on nonverbals on trust in relationships.
AI (artificial intelligence), comes in many forms. In this lecture, we examine how one series of high-tech studies shattered doubts about the power of nonverbal messages to create a sense of trustworthiness during interactions. We also spend time discussing how rapidly trust forms and why that's vital to understand in judging trust in a fair manner.
Trust cues help us to both indicate trust to, and receive trust from, others. The better we are at understanding and sending the right trust cues, the stronger our relationships will become. Nonverbal cues go well beyond mere body language, although that is important too. In this lecture, we explore three key areas of nonverbal signals and how they can indicate an extension of trust in interactions.
Just as trust cues help us to both indicate trust to, and receive trust from, others; trust flags signal that something is out of place or that trust is in question. The better we are at recognizing and responding to trust flags as they emerge, the stronger our relationships will become. In this lecture, we explore three key areas of nonverbal signals and how they can indicate trust is in danger and needs attention or repair.
