Course content

1 section10 lectures3h 1m total length
  • Introduction16:35

You can understand what kinds of activities belong to the HVAC commissioning after taking this session. We will discuss every activities of the HVAC commissioning briefly.

  • Maintainability16:31

We will discuss about the actual mistakes of the HVAC projects related in the maintainability. After taking this session, you can understand how to prevent delays by checking the issues related in maintainability.

  • Operability16:37

We will discuss about the mistakes related in the HVAC operation. After taking this session, you can understand what kind of things you need to be careful when you design the HVAC system, manage the HVAC construction project and do commissioning for the HVAC project.

  • Pre-commissioning-121:26

Pre-commissioning is a verifying procedure about whether the HVAC system is ready for the operation or not. We need to check and confirm the result of the construction before starting the operation. And we need to make the system ready to the operation.

We will discuss about the pre-commissioning activities for cable, instrument and control system in this session.

  • Pre-commissioning-223:25

Pre-commissioning is a verifying procedure about whether the HVAC system is ready for the operation or not. We need to check and confirm the result of the construction before starting the operation. And we need to make the system ready to the operation.

We will discuss about the pre-commissioning activities for ducts and pipes works in this session.

  • Function Test - Manual16:05

A function test is the actual start of the commissioning. We need to check the operation of the all equipment and devices for HAVC in this phase.

We will discuss about the manual function test of the HVAC system in this session.

    1. Manual operation test for all motorized dampers and valves such as MFD,MGD, MD, MOV, TCV, VAV and so on

    2. Manual operation test for all equipment such as fans, pumps, ACCUs (Air Cooled Condensing Units), chillers, EDH (Electric Duct Heater), EHU (Electric Humidifier Unit), CFU (Chemical Filter Unit), Bleed fan and so on

    3. Verifying values of the all instruments such as TT, MT, PDT

    4. Confirming the operation of the switches such as PDS (Pressure Difference Switch), FS (Flow Switch) and so on.

  • Function Test - Auto23:47

A function test is the actual start of the commissioning. We need to check the operation of the all equipment and devices for HAVC in this phase.

We will discuss about the HVAC automatic functions which need checking during the function test in this session.

    1. The operation for ventilating equipment

    2. Temperature control

    3. Relative humidity control

    4. Emergency operation with F&G (Fire and Gas control system)

    5. Emergency operation with EDG (Emergency Diesel Generator system)

    6. Interface operation with DCS (Distributed Control System)

  • TAB13:26

Testing, Adjusting and air-Balancing is the mandatory procedure for a HVAC project. And this procedure needs to be done by the 3rd party which has nothing to do with the contractor or end-user because the TAB shall not be affected by anyone´s interests.

We will discuss about the below activities in this session.

    1. Measuring air flow

    2. Balancing the air flow

    3. Measuring noise level

    4. Measuring the energy (electricity) consumption

    5. Measuring the temperature and relative humidity

    6. Measuring water flow

    7. Balancing the water flow

  • Performance Test19:42

The HVAC system shall show its performance under the hottest and coldest weather. The performance test shall be done in the middle of summer and winter by checking the below.

    1. Temperature

    2. Relative humidity

    3. Energy consumption

We will discuss about how to do a HVAC performance test in this session.

  • Preparing Handover13:40

The handover is the last procedure of the project. To do hand over the building or facility to the end-user side, we will discuss about what kinds of preparation we need to do for the handover in this session.

  • Basic understanding of HVAC system

Description

Commissioning is one of the critical procedures for the project. It is not easy to understand because it depends on the project and end-user standard. For example, I did the performance test for the HVAC system when I work for an EPC project in Qatar. But I didn’t do it when I handled an EPC project in UAE.

It is the main reason for me to prepare this course. I will show you the typical HVAC commissioning. If you need to deal with a HVAC commissioning, you can understand about it with this course. You can use this course according to the situation since I put activities as many as possible into this course to contain as much as information.

We will discuss about the below activities.

· Introduction

· Maintainability

· Operability

· Pre-commissioning -1

· Pre-commissioning -2

· Function Test - Manual

· Function Test - Auto

· TAB

· Performance Test

· Preparing Handover

From this course, you will get ideas about how to review design, manage the project, prepare commissioning and negotiate with your client. And I will show you actual examples as much as possible. For instance, there are 17 examples from my experience I got them while working for 4 EPC projects in Middle East.

I hope you would understand about the HVAC after taking this course.

Good luck.

Who this course is for:

  • Students interested in the HVAC
  • Design engineers who want to enhance their works quality by learning others' failures
  • Construction engineers who need to execute a HVAC project
  • Engineers who want to be HVAC commissioning engineers
