WELCOME FUTURE SLEEP CONSULTANTS. =)
Sleep (or lack thereof) is a common issue moms and dads face, but it’s seldom talked about for fear of looking like a bad parent. When incorporating sleep training into a diverse home, there can be even more negativity and friction surrounding the subject.
I come from a traditional Indian family where sleep training was considered taboo…but my scientific background told me differently. I knew the dangers of sleep deprivation (for me, my husband and my baby!) and I thoroughly researched the effects of sleep training before beginning a plan for my own children.
Now I am here to help you become a culturally-sensitive, certified sleep consultant and help change the lives of other families who are suffering from sleep deprivation.
You can be a stay-at-home mom and make up to $5,000 a month as a sleep consultant, making full-time income with part-time hours. Follow along as I take you through the steps to set you on your way to make an impact AND make money!
Why do we need more sleep consultants today?
Lack of time for parents
Too many resources causing overwhelm
Lack of accountability and consistency
I had a very personal connection with sleep training as I saw the immense difference it made in my family’s life. I knew that was something that I wanted to provide to other Moms (and Dads!)
What was your experience with sleep?
Maybe you had a kiddo who didn’t sleep and wish that they had… Maybe a sleep consultant helped you on your journey! Take time today and journal on why you are drawn to sleep consulting. List any and every reason! Yes, making extra money and flexibility with your schedule can absolutely be part of that decision.
What is your "why" for becoming a sleep consultant?
The very first step of becoming a Sleep Consultant is to become certified, and there are a wide variety of programs available.
When you are evaluating them, you must consider:
Is it science-based?
Is it inclusive of other cultures?
Does it prepare you to confidently conduct discovery calls with parents?
Other elements that are nice to have:
Does it provide you with basic information on marketing your business?
Does it equip you with resources for running your business, such as contract & project management system information?
The Sleepy Cub provides a certification that covers all of these elements, and while I may be biased that ours is the best, I strongly encourage you to do the research yourself as well.
There is SO much information on how to set up and market your business—I am sure you know this or you wouldn’t have purchased this training. I am not going to provide you with every single detail in this short training, but I want to highlight some common mistakes that are made by so many entrepreneurs and sleep consultants (myself included!) when they start a business.
The name of your company and your branding only matter so much!
When you first start a business, it can become easy to spend a great deal of time and money on creating a brand. While you want to look professional, that time is better spent networking with parents and figuring out ways to reach more parents, whether that is through interacting on Facebook Groups or joining a local moms group. I strongly encourage you to make money before you start spending money on branding.
Confidence comes from communication and believing in your services.
When you are able to communicate with yourself and others why working with you is going to change their lives—BOOM! You feel confident. You also make your client feel confident in your ability to help. Believing in your services will allow you to minimize imposter syndrome and really make an impact in your client's lives.
Sales come from boundaries and a clear strategy. Boundary setting is HUGE in any business, but especially when you work with parents. Having healthy boundaries around time, communication, effort, and emotions will allow you and your client to feel at ease. It will help with selling your packages and also with additional referrals!
Create your invoicing, contract, onboarding process, and process for providing services before you have a client!
This may seem obvious, but sometimes we can get so caught up in branding and networking that when someone actually expresses interest in our service, we aren’t ready to hit the ground running. Our goal is to be able to easily invoice, sign a contract, and begin helping families get more sleep!
I know all of this can feel like more than you can handle, but let's take it one step at a time, starting with the apps you will use to run your business. The list below includes some recommendations to help you get started.

Set up a routine to address the mindset drama that may come up.
Often in our minds we will create a business and picture how individuals will be lining up to purchase our services. Unfortunately, it typically takes time to establish ourselves and to find clients. Being solid on your why can help overcome obstacles and discouragement, but you need a system in place that you can revisit regularly to keep you grounded.
Mindset comes from getting in your client's mind and learning from each and every instance of potential client communication. Ask yourself:
What are they thinking?
What are they doing?
What is the ideal persona of your client?
Once you have this figured out, you can start shifting your mindset to act as someone who provides VALUE and is heart centered.
Mindset comes from the ability to think AHEAD and not focus on what went wrong.
Anytime you don’t sell, remember that "failure" means you learned something valuable. So how do you celebrate this so-called failure and what you learned from it? And when you do sell, how do you celebrate your amazing win?
Pitching with confidence is essential for any Sleep Consultant looking to reach their goals.
It’s a natural fear to feel overwhelmed or intimidated when presenting your ideas, so first and foremost, it's important to take a moment to get comfortable with yourself. Believe in the value of your work, and embrace the unique qualities you bring to the table.
You are enough!
Making sales is a strategic process that requires knowledge, confidence, and an understanding of your customer’s needs.
To be successful, it’s important to have a clear understanding of the features and benefits of the product or service you are selling. Once you understand the value propositions of what you offer, use language that resonates with potential customers to create interest.
Establish trust by listening carefully to potential clients and responding appropriately with tailored solutions for their individual needs. Make sure to also give yourself time for preparation before each meeting; practice makes perfect!
With focus on these core elements, any Sleep Consultant can become effective when making a pitch to a potential client who confidently converts leads into quality clients.
