Explore wireless fundamentals, 5G, RFID tags, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and emerging StarLink technology in a pragmatic health care information systems context.
Trace wireless from Marconi's radio waves to modern healthcare devices, and explore the electromagnetic spectrum and ISM bands, including 900MHz, 2.5GHz, and 5.8GHz, with interference notes.
Explore how cellular technology enables healthcare connectivity through seamless handoffs between cell towers, and how 5G's higher frequencies speed large file transfers with dense towers.
Compare Bluetooth and Wi-Fi within the Internet of Things and Internet of Healthy Things, noting ranges, data rates, ISM bands, and how real-time wearables enable remote medical assistance.
Learn how radio frequency identification tags operate, with passive and active variants, to identify, track, and manage patients, devices, and inventories in the health care environment.
Explore Starlink, SpaceX's globe-spanning satellite network designed for low-latency internet worldwide, and assess its promises, debris risks, and regulatory concerns.
Congratulate learners on completing the course and invite them to continue applying the tools and skills they learned, with best wishes for their future endeavors.
WHY IS THIS COURSE IMPORTANT?
Did you ever want someone to explain to you, in non-technical terms the basic concepts behind Wireless, Cellular, Bluetooth and RFID technologies? Did you ever wonder how these are being applied to healthcare today and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each? If so, this is the course for you. These technologies if implemented correctly have the potential of making healthcare processes more efficient and maximizing patient and user experience. If implemented incorrectly, they can wreak havoc.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN THIS COURSE?
Learn the basic concepts behind Wireless, Bluetooth, Cellular and RFID and the promise that it brings to healthcare.
Technology behind wireless and applications to healthcare
Cell towers and cellular technology (3G, 4G and 5G)
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Devices and how they apply to healthcare
Difference between wireless and bluetooth
(IOHT) Internet of Healthy Things
This course includes:
Video lectures walking you through the various aspects of wireless
Quiz to test your retention
Significant number of resources to do a deeper dive into his topic.
WHO IS THE IDEAL STUDENT FOR THIS COURSE?
You will learn a lot from this course if you are
Thinking about choosing healthcare as a career
Looking to advance your career in healthcare
Looking to expand your knowledge of healthcare to better perform your current job and better understand how it fits into the ecosystem of patient care and better serve those in need
Curious about everything and want to learn more about healthcare just for the sake of expanding your knowledge base.
WHAT IS YOUR TEACHING STYLE?
My teaching style is a very pragmatic one. I assume you know nothing about this topic and start with the foundation and build from there. Some of these concepts could be challenging, so I sprinkle in as many examples as I can, both non healthcare and healthcare, to assure full understanding of the topic. This is why I have appended "Plain and Simple" to all my courses.
WHY ARE YOU QUALIFIED TO TEACH THIS COURSE?
I spent 35 years in the designing and launching of medical imaging products and services. My career evolved from leading engineering teams, to becoming VP Marketing and then to president of a Healthcare IT firm. It is also based on 15 years of university teaching.
