Once you complete this course, you will know the difference between a set and a rep, a barbell and a dumbell, the difference between a plate loaded machine and a selectorized machine, how pulleys can be used in exercise, what a drop set, super set, and negatives are as well as the difference between a concentric move and a eccentric move is. Finally, you will see how to use a power rack or squat rack efficiently.
Scott will demonstrate a basic warm up and stretching routine to prepare the body for the exercises ahead and to cool down after the workout.
This lecture will show you exercises and alternative exercises for each major muscle group, as well as proper form for a beginner full body workout. These exercises can be done in a simple home gym with only a basic dumbbell set and weight bench or when in a commercial gym.
This lecture will discuss how to properly change up rep schemes and weights to continually progress in this basic program. Additionally it will discuss basic alternative techniques to continue progress, and how to determine the proper amount of rest and recovery for this basic program.
This lecture will dicuss the importance of tracking your workouts, so that you can continue to progress over time.
This lecture discusses how to start making changes to your diet, without being so restrictive that you want to give up. Getting into exercise AND drastically changing your diet all at once can be extremely difficult and lead to failure. This method allows you to slowly adjust to the fitness lifestyle. Additionally, you will be able to determine how much protein you should consume for progress and which supplements you may wish to consider.
This lecture will discuss the way grocery stores are designed and how to navigate them. Essentially, the healthiest foods are on the outside ring, and the less healthy items are in the middle of the store. After going through this lecture you should have a new idea on how to shop to make better food choices for your fitness journey.
This section will reinforce that what I have given you throughout this series of lectures has provided everything you need to make that first step to walk into a gym and start a training program. The basic terminology, exercise demonstrations and proper form for these exercises will allow you to feel confident that you DO belong in the gym. All of my videos are downloadable so you can watch and re-watch them until you are comfortable performing the exercises, and are comfortable in the gym setting.

In this course you will learn gym terminology such as what the differance is between a set and a rep, and what is the difference between a barbell and a dumbbell as well as other confusing terms. I will give you the information that you need to effectively communicate with other people in the gym.
Additionally, I will show you a basic warmup and stretching routine, and a basic program for a whole body workout that will allow you to start building a foundation of muscle gains and fat loss for the whole body, focusing on the major muscle groups. I will also show you specific exercises to include in your program and show the proper form for each exercise. Additionally, I will add some alternative exercise for different muscle groups for change, or in case you do not have the equipment that is needed for the primary exercise.
For all athletes, but especially the beginner, I will show you a basic way to start eating more healthy to maximize the gains in the gym. This section will include tips on proper diet, how much protein is needed for gains, what supplements I suggest for maximum results, and how to properly prep your meals for success.
This program will allow someone with what I call gym anxiety, which is a fear of stepping into a gym from not knowing how to properly execute the lifts and how to design a program, to be a confident person that can walk into a gym and confidently complete their workouts.
As you gain confidence, you can take additional courses that I offer that will allow you to expand your training knowledge and continue to progrees. This course however shows the basics you need to get started on your fitness journey and changing you life.
