If you become proud, you will not regain your respect,

Only that which pleases Lord Rama will happen,

Give up hope for the results and keep working.

राम को देख कर श्री जनक नंदिनी,

बाग में जा खड़ी थीं खड़ी रह गयी ।

राम देखे सिया को सिया राम को,

चार अँखिआ लड़ी की लड़ी रह गयी ॥

थे जनक पुर गये देखने के लिए,

सारी सखियाँ झरोखो से झाँकन लगे ।

देखते ही नजर मिल गयी दोनों की,

जो जहाँ थी खड़ी की खड़ी रह गयी

राम को देख कर श्री जनक नंदिनी,

बाग में जा खड़ी थीं खड़ी रह गयी ।

बोली है एक सखी राम को देखकर,

रच दिए हैं विधाता ने जोड़ी सुघर ।

पर धनुष कैसे तोड़ेंगे वारे कुँवर,

सब में शंका बनी की बनी रह गयी ॥

राम को देख कर श्री जनक नंदिनी,

बाग में जा खड़ी थीं खड़ी रह गयी ।

बोली दूजी सखी छोटन देखन में है,

फिर चमत्कार इनका नहीं जानती ।

एक ही बाण में ताड़िका राक्षसी,

उठ सकी ना पड़ी की पड़ी रह गयी ॥

राम को देख कर श्री जनक नंदिनी,

बाग में जा खड़ी थीं खड़ी रह गयी ।

राम देखे सिया को सिया राम को,

चार अँखिआ लड़ी की लड़ी रह गयी ॥

**Transliteration:**

Rām ko dekh kar Shrī Janak nandini,

Bāg men jā khaṛī thīṅ khaṛī rah ga.ī.

Rām dekhe Siyā ko Siyā Rām ko,

Cār aṅkhiā laṛī kī laṛī rah ga.ī.

The Janak pur ga.e dekhne ke liye,

Sārī sakhīyāñ jharokho se jhāṅkan lage.

Dekhte hī najar mil ga.ī donon kī,

Jo jahāñ thī khaṛī kī khaṛī rah ga.ī.

Rām ko dekh kar Shrī Janak nandini,

Bāg men jā khaṛī thīṅ khaṛī rah ga.ī.

Bolī hai ek sakhī Rām ko dekhkar,

Rach diye haiñ vidhāta ne joṛī sughar.

Par dhanuṣ kaise toṛenge wāre kuँwar,

Sab men śaṅkā banī kī banī rah ga.ī.

Bāg men jā khaṛī thīṅ khaṛī rah ga.ī.

Bolī dūsrī sakhī chhoṭan dekhne men hai,

Fir camatkār inka nahīñ jānti.

Ek hī bāṇ men tāṛikā rākṣasī,

Uṭh sakī nā paṛī kī paṛī rah ga.ī.

Bāg men jā khaṛī thīṅ khaṛī rah ga.ī.

Rām dekhe Siyā ko Siyā Rām ko,

Cār aṅkhiā laṛī kī laṛī rah ga.ī.

**Translation:**

Seeing Rama, the daughter of King Janaka,

Stood still in the garden, transfixed.

Rama saw Sita, and Sita saw Rama,

Their four eyes met and stayed locked.

The ladies-in-waiting had gone to Janakpur to see,

Peeking from the windows, they all began to stare.

As soon as their eyes met,

They all froze in place, wherever they stood.

Seeing Rama, the daughter of King Janaka,

Stood still in the garden, transfixed.

One friend said, seeing Rama,

"Fate has made a beautiful couple."

"But how will the prince break the bow, my dear?"

A doubt arose in everyone's mind and remained.
