Course Objectives

This course provides an overview of the basic methods, objectives and criteria of the early English language learning process. Current pedagogical achievements in regards to application of appropriate didactic tools suitable for children’s ages are also investigated within the course. Besides, this course provides a theoretical framework for making optimal curricula in the process of early foreign language learning, as well as guidelines for practice. Special attention is paid to the importance of education and training of teaching staff in the field of child psychology and pedagogy.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  1. Learn about the basic characteristics of the process of an early foreign language learning, find out about the appropriate way of planning the given process and the methods and techniques that will be applied and their implementation;

  2. Master the basic current standards in the early English learning process, their aims, methods and techniques of application;

  3. Understand the relationship between curricula, methods, and teaching materials, student learning predispositions and preferences that are used in the classroom in order to reach the required aims in the early English language learning process, as well as select appropriate textbooks, teaching materials and equipment and teaching and leading styles
