Description

This course teaches the Bunkai of the 5 snap kicks of the Isshinryu Karate system, including the front snap kick, the front snap kick to the side, the side snap kick, the low blade kick and the off angle fifth kick.

Isshinryu is a karate style that is simple yet powerful. Due to its simplicity, it is appropriate for students of all ages and abilities that are looking to learn self defense. Prior to starting this course, it is recommended to have knowledge of how to perform the 5 snap kicks.  This prerequisite is taught in a previous course.

After learning to perform the kicks, it is now important to know how to apply them.  This is known as Bunkai.  Each kick has its own video lesson which thoroughly demonstrates and explains step by step how to apply the movements in a self defense situation.  Structure, posture, foot work, body mechanics, and common misconceptions are covered in this course.  There is a culminating quiz that helps the learner reflect on the previous content.  Correct and incorrect answer choices will have feedback as well as a reference to the video in which the Bunkai section was taught.

Other "Dissect the Dissection" courses teach the katas that make up Isshinryu karate as well as the Bunkai for each kata.

Who this course is for:
