Description

This course is an introduction to the snap kicks and snap punch used in Isshinryu Karate. Isshinryu is a karate style that is simple yet powerful. Due to its simplicity, it is appropriate for students of all ages and abilities that are looking to learn self defense.

This course teaches how to perform and develop power with the snap kicks and snap punch as well as how to form the Isshinryu fist. These techniques are needed to be successful in this martial art. Each technique has its own video lesson which thoroughly demonstrates and explains step by step how to perform the movements. Structure, posture, foot work, body mechanics, common misconceptions and more are addressed during the lessons.

The course is broken into 2 sections. The first section includes 5 video lectures focused on the 5 Isshinryu snap kicks and a bonus lecture that teaches how to develop power and dexterity in your kicks. The second section includes 4 video lessons focused on how to form the Isshinryu fist, how to perform the snap punch and exercises/drills that will develop power with your snap punch.

Each section will have a quiz following it that helps the learner reflect on the previous content. Correct and incorrect answer choices will have feedback as well as a reference to the video in which the technique/exercise/drill was taught.

Practice of the these techniques is recommended after each video in order to strengthen muscle memory, develop discipline and to be better prepared for the next steps in learning Isshinryu Karate.

This introduction is crucial in laying the foundation for future courses which will focus on learning katas and bunkai (the explanation of technique).
