  • Why you should start to consider moving to decentralized platforms.5:43

kicking off this course i make a statement for why it's time for us all to consider decentralized networks for digital independence in 2019 and beyond to get us away from the issues of centralized platforms.

  • steemit is not steem, it's just a frontend to something bigger!4:04

one of the things that people get confused by is that steemit.com is not steem, steemit is the first frontend that was made for the steem blockchain from a social media blog perspective -- since 'condenser' was launched many other front ends have been built which 'connect' to the steem blockchain -- that's the biggest hurdle of thinking to get over from centralized to decentralized thinking.

  • welcome to the wonderful world of dapps5:12

most websites on the internet are 'centralized' -- one url, one web server, database, backend services but with 'decentralized' you have many servers, many frontends, no central point of failure and that is what makes blockchain networks so interesting, you only have to look at the amount of decentralized applications being made out there to know that this is where the internet of digital services is heading.

  • an opportunity to build a business on this blockchain5:25

the steem blockchain is the perfect place for you to make your next business. using existing code you can build out your own custom frontend and use the steem blockchain backend for data storage and retrieval knowing you have a secure environment to work from decentralized and immutable.

  • getting a steem account today6:43

an easy way to get a steem account today. no cost, free just verification with your mobile phone. be up and running today and get access to over 450+ dapps on the steem blockchain!

  • we have something for everyone0:41

below is a multitude of ways to interface and use the steem blockchain. i'm hoping by the end of the course you will see the value in giving the steem blockchain a chance and to build out your future decentralized applications.

Requirements

  • have a basic understanding of crypto currency
  • ideally be an existing blogger
  • have basic computer skills (storing passwords etc)

Description

STEEM has been running for two years now, been through twenty hard-forks and is currently in a lean optimising period with  major optimization to the core witness code. once completed this could  lead to making it much easier for an average user to host their own  witness nodes and applications.

In this course I’m going to share FIFTY+  decentralized steem applications and services that I believe make a  solid case for taking a look at using existing steem infrastructure for  your next web project.

It’s a powerful turnkey infrastructure with  hundreds of applications already running with active daily users, with a  steem account you can take part in all of these hundreds of apps with  just the one steem connect login as well.

I’ve spent the last two years  blogging on this platform, it’s helped me out through some hard times  and i'm always trying to put value back in. this course is to contribute  as i onboard content creators who i value on other platforms bringing them in via the amplify project - a project in development for well over a year.

Who this course is for:

  • app developers
  • bloggers
  • people wanting to build on top of a blockchain
  • people looking for digital independance using an immutable blockchain
  • free speech advocates
