Description
Crime doesn't happen randomly, it happens where the environment allows it to. This course teaches you Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), a practical framework used by security professionals, architects, urban planners and residential associations worldwide to reduce crime risk before it starts.
What makes this course different is the lens it's taught through. Most security training teaches CPTED from a compliance or checklist perspective. This course teaches it from the criminal's point of view, drawing on real interviews with offenders to explain not just what design changes to make, but why they actually work on the people you're trying to stop.
You'll learn the four core CPTED principles which are Natural Surveillance, Access Control, Territorial Reinforcement, and Maintenance & Management and how each one shapes offender decision-making. You'll go beyond theory into how to actually assess a space, conduct a CPTED audit, use environmental review techniques, and navigate the real-world challenges of implementation, from budget constraints to community engagement.
