CIPS L6M1 Video Course: Strategic Ethical Leadership

About this course

CIPS L6M1: Strategic Ethical Leadership is a very theory-heavy module.

There are leadership theories, influencing models and a rather daunting number of academics and scholars whose names we need to remember.

That's where this course comes in.

Rather than simply reading the theory from a PowerPoint, I'll explain it in clear, straightforward language and then relate it to situations and organisations you already recognise.

We'll look at Elon Musk and Barack Obama to explore different approaches to leadership. We'll discuss what happened at Birmingham City Council when looking at equality, diversity and inclusion. And I'll explain what the ever-evolving design of the Coca-Cola bottle teaches us about managing organisational change.

The aim is to make the theory easier to understand, easier to remember and — importantly — easier to apply when you're sitting your exam.

The course covers all four Learning Outcomes for L6M1:

Learning Outcome 1 — Leadership Skills and Behaviours
Leadership skills and behaviours and different approaches to leadership.

Learning Outcome 2 — Communication Planning Techniques
Influencing styles, leadership techniques for influencing people and communication planning.

Learning Outcome 3 — Leadership Challenges
Sources of power, equality and diversity, change management and resolving conflict.

Learning Outcome 4 — Ethical Practices and Standards
Ethical practices and standards and regulations affecting employment.

The course contains over four hours of video lessons, broken down by Learning Outcome so you can work through the syllabus at your own pace.

At the end of the videos, you'll also get practice exam questions to help you practise applying what you've learned. Across the course there are 93 practice questions.

Each Learning Outcome also comes with a Resource Pack containing further articles, videos and examples. These are there to help you explore some of the more difficult topics in more detail and, importantly, build up a bank of real-world examples that you can draw upon in your exam.

Who's teaching you?

I'm an ex-teacher, I've studied for the MCIPS qualification myself and for the past ten years I’ve worked in various procurement roles.

That combination shapes the way I teach.

I know what it's like to study CIPS alongside a job and everything else life throws at you. I also know that understanding a theory is much easier when someone explains what it actually looks like in the real world.

So I don't just tell you what the textbook says. I explain the theory, talk through examples and share some of my own experiences from working in procurement.
