Have you ever reacted emotionally without thinking and then wished you could take it back?
This course teaches you how to understand your emotions and manage them in a healthier and more constructive way.
Emotions influence how we think, react, communicate, and make decisions — often without us even noticing. When we don’t understand our emotions, they can take control, affect our relationships, and create stress in both our personal and professional lives.
This course focuses on emotional awareness and managing emotions based on the principles of Emotional Intelligence. It is practical, grounded, and designed to help you understand what you feel, why you feel it, and what to do with it.
Why emotional awareness matters
When you are aware of your emotions, you are better able to:
• notice emotional triggers before things get out of hand
• manage and control anxiety, anger, frustration, and stress more effectively
• make better decisions instead of reacting impulsively
• understand other people’s emotions and respond with empathy
• build healthier and more effective relationships
Emotional control is not about suppressing emotions.
It is about recognising, understanding, and responding to emotions in a healthy way.
What this course will help you do
During this course, we guide you step by step to:
• Understand where emotions come from, including needs, thinking patterns, values, and beliefs
• Become aware of emotions as they show up in the body, such as tension, tightness, or physical reactions
• Learn to name emotions accurately, which makes them easier to manage
• Understand the difference between suppressing emotions and managing emotions
• Practise simple, practical techniques to reduce emotional intensity, such as breathing and basic brain-body exercises
• Apply emotional skills in real-life situations, both at home and at work
The focus is always on practical application, not theory alone.
Why these skills are important
Developing emotional awareness and management skills can lead to:
• better self-understanding and self-acceptance
• improved communication and listening skills
• stronger personal and professional relationships
• healthier ways of dealing with stress and pressure
• greater emotional resilience during difficult times
• improved work performance, leadership, and teamwork
These are life skills — useful in relationships, careers, parenting, leadership, and everyday challenges.
About the facilitators
This course is presented by Dr Ronél le Roux and Dr Rina de Klerk-Weyer, both holding Ph.D. degrees and many years of experience in private practice.
We both worked in therapy before realising how important preventative work is. Instead of only helping people once problems arise, we focus on teaching emotional and life skills that can be applied before and during challenges.
We are passionate about sharing practical tools, real insight, and years of experience in a way that is accessible, supportive, and respectful.
