Ingolfur Hardarson is a survivor, advocate, and author of the Equilibrium Today book series, which explores the aftermath of trauma and provides solutions tailored to individual needs. Drawing from his personal experiences and professional expertise, Hardarson’s teachings are grounded in compassion, diversity, and proven methods.
Ingolfur experienced being bullied in his early years because of a medical condition related to his sexual abuse. In his forties, while working his way through a 12-step codependency program, he started gaining back some long-lost memories from his childhood, which later prompted him to successfully work his way out of the darkness into personal freedom.
After finding his way out of the darkness, he published a book about his healing journey called “Ferðalag til frelsis” (e. A Journey To Freedom). He has worked intensely with over 200 individuals in recovery from all sorts of abuse. He has also spent countless hours assisting relatives of abuse victims, seeing as, in his words, "everybody must work together".
He published the English version in a three-book series he calls EQUILIBRIUM TODAY SERIES. These books are his way of paying it forward and ensuring that the methodology he developed through his own crisis will live on.
He assembled the methodology from various sources. The core methodology is tried and tested and has been used by over 700 victims of violence to various extents and exposed to more than 4000 individuals in Iceland. That is a relatively large percentage of the population, about 1 %.
He has assisted in research projects at the University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri.
His philosophy is that if we meet an obstacle in life, then somebody else has to. If we find solutions, somebody else also needs those solutions, and we should share them with as many as we can.
