Description

Drawing is wonderful. A white canvas represents endless possibilities. You can draw actual people and things in you life; you can draw how you feel about certain person or incident; you can draw your expectations for the future and your memory about the past; you can even create a whole world from your imagination.

However, learning to draw can be hard - even frustrating. Sometimes we have to give up a great idea because our techniques do not allow us to show it on the picture.

Facing this challenge, you first need a method. A method that allows you to easily draw basic things. Then it will be easier for you to stay interested in drawing, and continue you way to becoming a good illustrator.

The purpose of this course is to introduce you to a series of solid methods that you can use to draw manga-style digital illustrations while improving your drawing skills. I hope this course can help you find more fun in illustrations.

This bundle includes all volumes of the 3-part digital illustration course.

We have talked about basic techniques of Painter. If you have practiced with doodling, drawing and copying, you should be quite familiar with how Painter works. Although there are many illustration software, but their basic functions are the same. More important is your drawing and observation skills.

Let's do some basic exercise to improve your eye-hand coordination and digital tablet skills.

Observing Objects
1 Lecture 19:18

When learning drawing, most beginners may encounter this problem: "Why can't I draw things real?" The key is to use your eyes to draw. To observe in a real way. Although drawing ‘real‘ is never the most important point of art, observing is the most important basic ability.

Drawing Your Chibi Character!
6 Lectures 02:20:50

We will talk about drawing chibi characters in the coming lessons. When learning draw-ing chibi characters, we can also master some basic CG techniques. Drawing chibi characters is simple and interesting, while useful in all sorts of situations.

In the previous lesson we talked about ‘draw what you see instead of the symbol in your mind' , but this time we will try the opposite: refine new symbols by ourselves.

In this session, you will learn the complete process of drawing a chibi character. Each lecture in this session covers a main stage in the illustration process.

To draw characters well, we have to know how human body looks like, and how to ob-serve it. In this section we will talk about the basic: proportion.

It's a difficult topic and you may not remember everything by watching the video once. Try to remember them by practice. The same for later lessons.

Digital illustrator

Hello ACG fans and fellow digital artists,

I am a digital illustrator, course instructor and graphic designer. In the past 8 years, I worked on illustration and character design projects for computer games, trading card games and ACG magazines.

I started my own studio 4 years ago and have taught digital illustration to more than 140 students in live sessions. Now I am experimenting with teaching digital illustration online based on my live teaching experience.

It took me 3 years to plan, record, edit and refine the courses I offer right now. And I believe a course is like a software: it is never done, but always improving. So I'd really appreciate your feedback and will keep making the course better.
