Section 1: Worldview from a Christian Perspective

This session introduces the topic of Worldview and Christian Missions.

In this session we will look at different stories from the Bible that describe Worldview. We will look at the definition of Worldview, the Tower of Babel, and Paul in Athens.

By using the picture of an iceberg we discover the different elements of Worldview and Culture.

By using the model of an onion (and underlying layers) we discover the different aspects of Worldview and Culture.

In this session we will look at how the roles of the communicator, receiver, message, context, and noise affect communication styles. It helps the learner understand why communication does not take place in some engagements.

As we look at different cultures we discover that there are bridges and barriers which hinder the communication of the message.

This session explains what can happen when the proper communication styles are not utilized and how difficulties often mean that the one communicating and the one hearer does not connect. When this happens we often get syncretism which is a merger of the two cultures.

This session describes how every object has a meaning attached to that object. Below the surface of the physical a culturally understood meaning. This session will explore the role of symbols in a culture.

This session provides an overview of guilt, shame, and fear cultures.

This video brings together the other sessions into one cohesive explanation of how worldview and culture affects Christian witness.
