I am a furniture designer and maker at Refined Edge Design and discovered a passion for working with wood at an early age. I currently follow my passion and craft of designing and creating furniture. As a woodworker and furniture maker, I have accumulated over twenty years of expertise in working with wood. I studied at a fine furniture school to further my furniture making and woodworking skills and enjoy challenging myself with new techniques and processes. My furniture studio has a mix of hand tools, machinery and power tools. My emphasis is on a hybrid use of both hand tools and power tools and the processes to make this more efficient. Over the past years, my award winning furniture has been featured in the following books: Studio Furniture: Today's Leading Woodworkers, Wood Art Today 2, 500 Cabinets as well as Fine Woodworking Magazine and various international magazines. Most recently I have been nominated as a Finalist for a NICHE 2013 Award. I currently operate my furniture design studio in a country setting outside Ottawa, Ontario where I teach woodworking skills as well as designing and creating fine furniture.

An amateur on the way to pro ...

I thoroughly enjoyed this course. For some one who has been playing with wood for years this course is a complete investment for the typical beginner mistakes. I would however love to see more videos than photos as I like to see the acts being performed instead of described. I am so excited about completing this course as I have so many creative ideas that I can now execute with a professional touch. Thanks Norman, you are a RockStar :)

    Excellent course!

I'm an amateur woodworker who has used many of the tools covered in this course. I never really knew what they were or understood their full application. Thanks to this course I now feel more confident with my woodworking skills.
