Our course starts off with an introduction into how the web works. You don’t need to be an IT professional to understand the basics of how information flows over the Internet, but it is important to have a solid working knowledge of the concepts. Websites contain information, and this section gives you a clear understanding of how that information gets to the users who need it.

In this part of the course we begin building our project site using XHTML and web standards laid down by the World Wide Web Consortium, an international community that develops standards to ensure the long-term growth of the Web. You will be amazed at the power and simplicity of this easy to use markup language!

    • A "Home" page introducing the company and welcoming the visitor
    • An "About Us" page to display in-depth company information
    • A "Contact Us" page for contact information (no big surprise there)
    • A "Proposals" page where prospective clients can tell us about their project

CSS is a language that allows us to change elements such as font, text color, background, borders and the position of elements on the page. CSS was designed to keep the content of web pages separate from the presentation or layout. By using CSS you can change the way your pages look without ever having to touch your content.

Every time you enter information in your Facebook account, or buy something on Ebay, or even Twitter, you are using a web form.

    good beginner course

I liked this course. It is a good beginner course and it will help you learn html but it will not be the end of your html journey. No course will do that. You will need to continue practicing the lessons. You should practice as much as possible. I did run into problems and I reached out for help and he responded. I also liked it provided a project to complete.

  • Jim Filippi
    All the Escentials

It starts out a little slow but gets very deep into the critical areas anyone would need to know when developing a web site. Excellent presentation. Easy to follow and clear examples.

  • Charles Reavis

Web Design from the Ground Up is very well organized and easy to follow. It gives me a good basis for taking the other courses I intend to complete. I really like the companion text.

  • Shawn Telford
    Very informative!

I really enjoyed this course. The pace was just right and the information was presented in a logical manner. It was easy to follow and I feel I learned a lot.

  • Katharina Rossmeier
easy to follow, all Basics covered

I could follow the teacher easily and finalize my first nice Project with some cool Features. The course covers all Basics and gives you hints where to go to deepen your knowledge. It could have covered more in-depths on photoshop and JavaScript though, in my opinion. But if you are new to web design, I can absolutely recommend this course.
