Section 1: Watercolour for beginners #5

An overview of the whole course and the projects we will do. We will be painting the 'Aurora borealis' or Northern lights for the first project. The second project is a beautiful birch tree painting.

Section 2: Basic information that you need to know before you start.

Section 3: Project 1 Aurora Borealis or The Northern Lights

Creating a sky with five colours using a wash. The sky is the fun part. The trick to get all your materials ready first.


Creating cast shadows is first and how easy it is. We are also practicing for the next step of painting evergreen trees.


After the shadows, this step should be easy. Trees are easy but review the video on making skinny lines before you start.


This step is optional. A short lesson on adding snow to your painting.


The conclusion to the project and more information. You will see the many ways to create this project.

Section 4: Project #2 Birch trees

An introduction to the project -three birches. Three birches in the forest. This is a beautiful and fun project.


A short step - Creating patches and shadows on a birch tree. This is a tricky step. Take your time to do it well.


Review your video on making skinny lines then make some branches.


A lesson on how to use spattering to create leaves. This is an easy and fun step. Warning: It is messy!


A review of what we have done and some more ideas. You can see there are many ways to paint this painting.
