This is the first time I am writing about it. I used to individually coach on request, and I wouldn't have thought of teaching on Udemy if the leaders I coached hadn't encouraged me to do so!

Actually, this first course was supposed to be around how to transition in your first job as a team manager, but I got to speak with most of the people I coached into becoming team leaders and they agreed on one thing: they thought it would be more relevant to start, well, from the beginning: how to get a job as a people manager or team leader. So I did and this is this very first course on a programme I have named: Survival Kit for First Time Managers.

In this business course, you will learn the steps into becoming a team leader or a team manager: maybe you have already applied for such a role, but were not successful at the interview. Or maybe you have this goal in mind and really want to lead people, but you are unsure where to start or if you would enjoy the responsibilities. As I learned quickly in the job, it's one thing to assume what the role entails, it can be quite another to actually perform it.

I have consulted with many brand new team leaders, I have surveyed team leaders I had coached, as well as former team members and higher managers. My goal was to establish a spectrum of the different perspectives and ensure I would be covering everything you would need. After years of leading teams (multicultural, inter-generational, small and large teams), I didn't want to assume I remembered my first steps. Yes, I had my coaching successes to rely on, but I wanted to gather as much information as I could and consequently ensure you would get the best of my knowledge. 

One confession at this stage: I have tried repeatedly to use keynote, powerpoint, screenflow, quicktime, you name it; the result wasn't good enough and I was spending so much time that it was actually starting to distract me from the course, so I decided it was best to solely focus on the content. This system is super easy and has the advantage to remove any stress for me in filming what I want to share with you.

I will regularly consult my dashboard so as to see if you have sent me some questions. Please feel free to question me if something is confusing or if you have a particular scenario that is troubling you. I am here to help and will do my utmost to do so.

Thank you so much for taking an interest in my course (s)! I love what I do! I get to share my knowledge and passion for leadership and people management!

My name is Sabine; I worked in People Management for over 15 years and have now decided to start teaching what I know best. I had been thinking about it for a little while, but got the opportunity to actually do it when I was made redundant with the rest of the company in 2016. 

I am now an entrepreneur: I teach people management among other disciplines, I am currently preparing other courses, including one on how to bounce back after being made redundant, another one on self confidence and so on. I am also an author: I published a few books a few years ago on the gastric balloon and in January 2017 I published the first book on a new series using a fictional character called Sally. This series is based on universal laws and personal development studies.  

My style is direct, I don't hold back: if I have something to say, I say it as it is, there's no sugar coating. My goal is for you to be prepared in such a way that you will stand out and neatly progress in your aspiration to being the best manager possible. I was considered a "Top Talent" in my role: I still have weekly requests to join companies, but I have taken a new path now. This is what my courses are about. I will explain what I did, all the secrets behind the scene with me so that you grow into being the talent that you naturally are. 

My courses will appeal to those of you who aim at being the best. Yes, you will have heard about some of the strategies I am revealing, but not all of them. And let's say that, as one of my former TLs told me "I wish I had access to all of your stuff somewhere in writing when I started, it would have saved me time and frustration!".

Yes, I was praised for my management skills, my project coordination, my initiatives, my ability to over-achieve objectives, you name it. But more importantly, I grew in the process and I absolutely loved the way I was able to develop others and facilitate their growth. My teams were great and you'll see that's not due to luck but to good recruitment, good talent management and so on.
