Section 1: Where we're going and how we'll get there
02:34

For every course Brian produces, he sets an intention. In this lesson, he not only shares his intention, he explains how he structures it.

03:05

Brian makes a few suggestions on how students can approach this subject. At the end of this lesson, he provides a concept map of the whole course.

Two downloadable documents:

  • The Presuppositions of NLP
  • The Concept Map of this course

Section 2: A Comprehensive Exploration of the Four Profiles
06:14

The first of the four communication profiles that we will look at is Visual. This type of communication is the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or looked upon.

During interpersonal communication, visual communicators rely to a great degree on non-verbal cues and information. Other forms of taking in information through sight include viewing physical and electronic forms of text and graphics in both 2D and 3D formats.

02:59

Watch and listen to people using visual predicates. These short clips are from volunteer actors.

6 questions

Before we see and hear the "Words & Phrases" lesson, let's do a quick quiz review of visual traits.

05:32

The second profile we will examine is Auditory. In order to communicate an idea from one person to the next, the brain must make an image of each word and then articulate it in the form of sound. This is done at the same speed as thinking - three words per second.

Some people are better at auditory communication than others. Find out more in this lesson about the traits and characteristics of auditory communicators

01:33

Watch and listen to people using auditory predicates. These short clips are from volunteer actors.

4 questions

A quick quiz review about Auditory communicators.

04:45

The third profile we will touch on is Kinesthetic. These kind of communicators talk with their hands to draw the attention to what they are communicating. Feelings are important to them. Find out why movement is so key to how they interact.

5 questions

Have you grasped this information?

03:12

Watch and listen to people using kinesthetic predicates.

06:55

The fourth profile describes those people who take their time considering a situation prior to acting or speaking.

In this lesson, you will have a chance to consider their perspective and learn to appreciate why their opinion is often lost in a group discussion.

5 questions

Let's figure out if you know what make this profile tick.

01:36

Watch and listen to people using ID predicates. These short clips are from volunteer actors.

Section 3: Self-Audit - Best Practices for Learning - Bonus & Wrap Up
12 pages

This subjective assessment can be viewed, downloaded, and/or printed. It is designed to help you discover your primary communication profile blend.

Your unique profile blend simply sheds light on how you relate as a human being, and it reveals how you run your relationships. As well, it suggests how you learn and probably teach.

How to Complete the Self-Audit.
(This information is on the first page of the PDF as well)

  • Keep track of your choices on a separate sheet of paper with four columns headed: V A K Id.
  • Read the characteristic or approach, and then record on that sheet the first response that comes into your consciousness (V, A, K, Id).
  • Since people play many roles in life, they often display distinct characteristics in different environments. For example, someone might tend to be more Visual at work, and more Kinesthetic at home. To account for this, you have a couple of choices:

> > > If you wish to assess your profile blend at work exclusively, complete only pages 2 thru 6, and think of yourself in the context of your workplace.

> > > If you wish to assess your overall profile blend, complete all pages with any non-work contexts in mind.

  • If any characteristic or approach does not apply to you, just leave it blank.
09:40

How someone communicates with others reflects how that person takes in information and filters it before being integrated into the sub-conscious.

In this lesson, we will merge our knowledge about the four communication profiles and sketch out how this can be applied to best practices for learning and teaching.

Discover how communicators who lack facility in one or more profiles are disadvantaged. Here we will highlight ways to uncover hidden resources of little-used approaches.

01:15

The bonus Brian is adding is a 30-minute guided self-hypnosis audio
that can be downloaded as an MP3. Here is the description:

Following the induction and a short confidence boost,
you will experience a beautiful visualization.

In this hypnosis session, you will:

  • Achieve mental calmness.
  • Create a new positive reality.
  • Discover the value of becoming excited about challenges.
  • Learn to uncover opportunities to succeed.
  • Become independent and focus on a goal.
  • Move towards a renewed energy in life.

As well, you will find the NLP Presuppositions,
and a copy of the concept map for this course.
