About me
Walter Barta is a training and development professional that has been active in workplace learning, adult education, business development and social marketing activities within his various roles throughout his career. He is experienced in both white collar and blue collar work environments and training and development settings. In his various roles he has built numerous training teams and systems and was involved in leadership effectiveness initiatives and also designed and developed comprehensive training and onboarding programs, which also covered a wide variety of soft skills development. He has also worked as Human Resources manager and Health Safety & Environment coordinator in industrial, transportation and construction settings.
Walter has worked for many years, designing, developing, facilitating and evaluating training for learners as well as for trainers in Alberta and throughout North America. Drawing on his academic work covering adult, career and technology education as well as workplace learning and communities of lpractice, walter has designed and facilitated training & development work for multiple clients in blue collar and professional settings. Regularly managing multiple projects, walter is familiar with all facets of learning and development proposals. Walter has designed online learning for many clients and is working with researchers and institutions to better perfect the integration and convergence of learning technology and processes as well as the application of learning through social media and tools throughout the organization.
A key focus of much of that training and development has been health, safety and technical competency within one’s work responsibilities. Behavior based safety programming has been a significant conponent of Walter’s work throughout his career, having developed the award winning “Mission Possible @ Work” safety program for the Canadian Automobile Assoication.
Walter’s academic career has been substanially focused on adult education, workplace learning and organizational development. He acquired his Bachelors degree in Vocational Education and worked as a teacher for the school system and later worked on his Masters in Adult, Career and Technology Education, which gave him substantial insight into corporate training and development and human resources issues. He has recently finished his Masters of Education work with a focus on adult and workplace learning and communities of practice as well as organizational development.
Throughout Walter’s years of learning and experience in the areas of education, training and development, especially in the areas surrounding adult education, workplace learning, and safety training, he has distinguished himself through innovation, creativity and customer service.
