Dr Valerie Leroyer graduated in the field of family medicine in 1997. Prior to that, she graduated with a B.Sc Honour's in marine Biology from Dalhousie University, and did a Master's degree in medicine (cancer research) at McMaster university.
For the past 16 years, Dr Leroyer practiced in a rural setting, focusing mainly on general medicine, home palliative care and non-cancerous chronic pain.
She did several medical trainings in Bangalore, South India, in Central Africa for a few months, and also in scuba diving medicine.
Over the years, she developed a specific interest in time management at work with numerous clients and also from her own point of view being a full time professional and a single mom.
Valerie started blogging in 2012, taking a course with Michael Stelzner, from Social Media Examiner. She started and experimented with several blogs, and took copywriting classes from AWAI.
"I've met Valerie and had the opportunity to go through her work. What struck me is the combination of both solid research and creativity in her writing. Some people are strong on the research and clear business communications side of writing, others find their strength in creativity. Valerie seems to be equally strong in both areas. In other words, she's quite a find" ~Nick Usborne, copywriter.
"I really appreciate the way Valerie takes the time to dig deep into her topic, develops a thorough understanding of it all, and translates it into clear, direct and efficient message for the right audience. She's a capable writer and focused blogger who meets deadlines and is easy to work with" ~Danny Iny, online entrepreneur and blogger.
Valerie has been writing poems for the past 30 years, and also short essays on scuba diving and palliative care. Right now, she publishes a weekly newsletter on SmartWritersOnly, and is working on her first sci-fi novel.
When she is not "working", Valerie enjoys a walk on the beach, scuba diving or kayaking. She lives in beautiful British Columbia, Canada with her 13 year-old son, adopted from Haiti.
