About me
Dr. Uma Devi T, Ph.D. (Women's Studies), Masters in Nursing, PGDBS is a dedicated nursing academician, Maternal and Child Health Advocate, researcher, author, and academic administrator with nearly 22 years of combined teaching and clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing. She currently serves as the Vice Principal, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing, and IQAC Coordinator at Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing.
Dr. Uma Devi has authored more than 17 research publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. She is a book author, book chapter author, peer reviewer, patent holder, and Government of India copyright holder, with contributions spanning maternal and child health, breastfeeding, nursing education, digital health, environmental sustainability, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. She has also filed multiple patents and intellectual property applications that promote innovation in nursing education and healthcare.
Her research interests include maternal and child health, breastfeeding, women's health, environmental sustainability, climate-resilient healthcare, nursing education, digital health, artificial intelligence, and evidence-based nursing practice. She is currently pursuing a second Ph.D. in Nursing, focusing on innovative breastfeeding interventions to improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
Dr. Uma Devi has received several recognitions for her academic and research contributions, including the Academic Excellence Award (2019) from the IRDP Group of Journals and the Compassionate Educator Award (2024–2025) from Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing. She demonstrated academic excellence early in her career by securing the Gold Medal in Post Graduation, along with the Best Postgraduate Outgoing Student and Best Postgraduate Clinical Nurse awards.
She has been invited as a resource person, keynote speaker, conference presenter, and faculty development programme facilitator, delivering sessions on maternal and child health, breastfeeding, research methodology, quality assurance, environmental sustainability, digital transformation in nursing education, and emerging healthcare technologies.
Through her courses, Dr. Uma Devi is committed to empowering nurses, midwives, nursing students, educators, researchers, and healthcare professionals with practical, evidence-based knowledge that enhances clinical practice, promotes sustainable healthcare, and improves maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes globally. Her mission is to inspire healthcare professionals to create healthier mothers, healthier children, and a healthier planet through education, research, innovation, and sustainable healthcare practices.
