Hello, My name is Ty Smith and I am originally from Moana Beach, South Australia. I started skateboarding in the 80′s when the surf was flat. I picked it up again in the late 90′s after arriving in Nelson, BC .
I have an active Professional Certification of Qualification from the BC. I worked as a teacher on call in Kootenay Lake School District from 2003 to 2011 and have been teaching for 20 years in Australia and now in BC.
In 2011/12/13/14 I have coordinatored at the Castlegar Rotary Skatepark Summer at the Skatepark. This free drop in skateboarding instruction program at the Castlegar Rotary skatepark has been accessed by over 900 people of all ages.
For the last 5years I have also been promoting skateboarding in the Kootenay's through the Kootenay Skateboard Series.
I am also working with sk8shoes4kids>org whose mission is to provide skate shoes to youth who are not able to afford them..
I am passionate about the potential to bring skateboarding into schools in the Kootenay's. I am thrilled to be now working with skatepark>org.
