I'm a big believer that we all learn through pattern recognition - it's hard wired into us. There is no such thing as talent, only noticing patterns and putting it into relatable context.
As human beings we are the universal TV remote of animals. We use technology to bridge the gap of ability instantaneously, rather than wait for evolution to catch up. It's no surprise we can exist under water or in space, given the right technology to support us.
When it comes to learning - sometimes we have all the motivation in the world, but are let down by the delivery of new information. Often people want to overcomplicate something in order to look smart.
Other times we don't believe we have the raw talent... but talent doesn't exist. We just need the right frame of reference to kick start our understanding. There is always a way to make sense of new ideas.
The other core principle to my teaching philosophy - ignite your passions! If learning feels like a punishment, you'll only put the bare minimum in. Find out how to inject your passions into it, and it won't feel like work.
