Dr. Ryan Ahmed is an adjunct professor at McMaster* University in Ontario, Canada and the program Co-Chair at the 2017 IEEE Transportation and Electrification Conference (iTEC’17) in Chicago, IL, USA. Ryan holds a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, with Mechatronics specialization from McMaster University. He also received a Master’s of Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from McMaster, with focus on artificial intelligence. Ryan held different engineering positions at Fortune 100 companies. Most recently, he worked as a Battery Systems Engineering Lead at Samsung America and as a Senior Scientific Research and Experimental Development Technical Specialist at Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Canada.
Ryan has taught several courses on management and control of electric vehicle batteries at McMaster University and at the educational EV/HEV boot camp at the IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo (iTEC 2015) in Dearborn, MI, USA. He was the co-recipient of the best paper award at the IEEE Transportation Electrification Conference and Expo (iTEC 2012) in Detroit, MI, USA. He is currently an MBA Candidate at the DeGroote School of Business, a Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM), certified Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, a member of the Green Auto Powertrain (GAPT) research team, a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
