I am currently a Non-Executive Director of a South African bank, where I chair the Audit Committee and am a member of a number of other Board committees I also a mentor early stage Fintech start-ups.
I have worked in many areas of retail banking, most recently on a transformation project to transition a bank into a platform-enabled business. Before this I was the Head of Retail, International,responsible for consumer and private banking in bank's international subsidiaries.
Other roles in banking include being Chief Financial Officer of the retail bank division; heading up Savings and Investments products; and mass affluent banking. I also spent four and a half years as General Manager: Bankingfor an insurance company where I had responsibility for developing the entry options and value propositions to start a bank.
Although my career has been largely focused in banking, I started off as a microbiologist and developed a way of refining gold using bacteria. I then spent a period in mining finance.
I am recognized as an innovative strategic thinker with Harvard University developing an MBA case study on one of his innovations, the Million a Month Account.
