I have spent my entire working career in the IT industry, with a focus in the past 20 years, on Information Security. I was a PCI QSA for many years, assessing companies for compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), but I have a love for ISO 27001 which is the global standard for Information Security, and have assisted many companies on their journey to ISO compliance. The ISO series of standards are excellent, comprehensive, and not too prescriptive, and compliance with ISO 27001 demonstrates that your company is doing the right things!

In my younger days, I was a "techie", a firewall and network engineer, and even developed software applications using a popular database language of the time.

I'm sure I'm not unique, but am one of those IT professionals with a very strong technical background, so I understand the technical terms. Over the years, I obtained the CISSP, CISM and CIPT (Privacy) certifications to reinforce my abilities, and standing in the InfoSec world.

Why did I choose to develop a course around ISO 27001?

Simply because I want to pass some of my knowledge on to others.
