From Engineer to Artist: The Journey of Nor Aishah Binti Alli

In the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, a remarkable transformation is unfolding. Nor Aishah Binti Alli, once a dedicated civil and structural engineer from Ipoh, Perak, has embraced her true calling as a freelance oil painter. With a degree in engineering and over a decade spent shaping projects like the New Doha International Airport, Aishah thrived in the world of construction. Yet, beneath the hard hats and blueprints lay a deep passion for art that yearned to be expressed.

In December 2016, after years of balancing her career and creative aspirations, Aishah made a life-changing decision: she established the Isyah Art Gallery. With each brushstroke, she began to tell stories inspired by her travels and love for nature. In 2018, her first solo exhibition showcased over 50 vibrant paintings, captivating audiences and marking the beginning of her artistic journey.

Her work quickly gained recognition, leading to prestigious exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur’s finest hotels and a notable commission from former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohammad, whose portrait now resides in the Prime Ministers Museum on Langkawi Island. Aishah's passion for collaboration flourished as she engaged with international artists, most recently showcasing her work in a collective exhibition in Bali.

As she travels the world, Aishah’s playful spirit and mastery of color shine through her creations. Each painting is a labor of love, an extension of her soul, evoking emotions and sparking inspiration. Though parting with her artwork is bittersweet, she finds fulfillment in sharing her vision with others.

Now, as a teacher at an international school, Aishah nurtures the next generation of artists, inviting them to explore their creativity alongside her. Her latest exhibition in Germany featured three of her unique pieces, further solidifying her place in the global art community.
