As a yoga instructor, licensed massage therapist and myofascial bodyworker, as well as a holistic wellness coach, I spent the past 11 years working with groups and individual clients. The focus of my work is postural alignment, movement coaching and the correction of habitual movement, to keep my clients free from pain and able to keep doing the activities they love to do.
Posture specialists like Erik Dalton, PhD, the Postural Restoration Institute in Lincoln, NE as well as the cutting edge scientific research on spine health and rehabilitation by Dr. Stuart M. McGill, a Professor of Spine Biomechanics at the University of Waterloo have taught me a great deal about ideal posture and how to achieve it. Applying their teachings to my with clients has clearly shown why it is not enough to just instruct clients to "sit straight, and relax the shoulders" but rather to give them the key to rewire the brain/body connection thru a complete and simple program.
The unique Postural Realignment Technique I have developed is inspired by Yoga, Fundamental Movement Principles, the Alexander Technique, Myofascial Release Techniques, Mind-body Awareness Training, Core Activation and Spine Power Exercises.
Having the privilege of working with my clients one-on-one gives me a great opportunity to study not only their individual movement patterns that cause repetitive stress and pain, but also the physiological and even mental effect a compromised posture has on them. My clientele includes golfers, tennis players, football players, professionals who sit too much, as well as the elderly.
