Munir Ahmad is an International advisor for the Civil Society Initiatives at Aga Khan Foundation, focusing at strengthening civil society organizations using technology as an enabler to drive social impact. He holds a degree in Multimedia Engineering degree from Institute of Advanced Technologies in Lisbon, Portugal.
Munir joined AKF Portugal , KCIDADE in 2004 as a Digital Unit Coordinator. He was responsible for the coordination of the Digital Initiative Unit with the aim of tackling digital exclusion in low income communities.
He also worked in Hewlett-Packard(HP) in Geneva headquarters, as Education Innovation Specialist managing one of the Hewlett Packard’s flagship social investment initiatives aimed at helping young unemployed people and graduates acquire business and IT skills to start their own businesses and enter professional life. The program has been deployed in more than 400 training centres across five continents and reaching more than 1 million entrepreneurs.
Moreover, the HP LIFE(Learning Initiative for Entrepreneurs) Program is also deployed through Startup America Partnership as part of White House’s national strategy to stimulate economic growth and the creation of quality jobs.
He also leaded two start-up companies in technology field that is a reflection of his keen interest in IT business and his natural enterprising spirit.
His areas of interest are e-learning, training, curriculum development, digital inclusion, ICT4 development and web marketing. He loves to travel, cook, photography, reading and speaks 6 languages: English, Portuguese, French, Spanish, Gujrati and Hindi.
